Palace will beat Burnloid anyway – so today’s result matters little in truth. Plus, as already pointed out, their safety might give us the best chance of points down there. If they were desperate for the win, combined with our away form, it had a 1-0 BFS pressure win written all over it (no doubt with a lucky deflection from a set piece too). It's uncomplicated. Bar Sunlun going Defcon 1 or Burnley going nuclear winter - it's us v Swansea.
At the end of the day, anyone from 9th downwards could be relegated mathematically, which when you think about it at this stage of the season, is mental. It's all to play for!!
The Palace result also hots up the battle for the CL spots, so that Man U are in with a better shout for fourth, making them hungrier for the Swansea match.
Burnley away 09/10 West Ham away this season. There's plenty of other examples of the referee gifting a game to a team.
It wasn't like we had 3 perfectly good goals ruled out in that game and he gave them an illegal one. It was a soft pen that some think was correctly given. If it hadn't been given, we still wouldn't have won. However your point is correct, the ref getting some key decisions drastically wrong is the only thing that can influence the best team not winning. Pretty football and 75 shots on goal does not make for a better team.
Sorry if this has been mentioned. As soon as I read he was reffing our game I knew we were in for trouble. He is from West Yorkshire which sraight off makes him anti Hull City.
There is usually a team that drops into the mix late on as they can't sustain earlier form and their confidence disappears.. that club could be Burnley.. it's hard to get your mojo back when it's slipped down the back of the sofa..
You can get circa 17/2 on Sunlun double: beating Boro away, B'mouth at home. Those odds exist for good reason and I doubt I'll bother, but if they can win tmw (which is well possible) I think they'll win on Saturday too.
They (Burnley) have 39 points and a much better goal difference than us or Swansea, so no need to worry.
