So here's how I think it went..... Del phones David Moyes for his opinion.... Del - "Hello! Is that Moyesy?" DM - " yes, who's speaking?" Del - "It's Del Boy, how's the job hunting going?" DM - "****e, how can I help?" Del - "I've been offered the Sunderland job. Do you think I should take it?" DM - "click" (dial tone).......... What would your reply be?
As much as I probably hope not... It'd just be nice to have a manager in charge. We are a laughing stock at the minute
Here's a different perspective - how about the fact that McInnes doesn't have the stones to take the job on? A big club, top notch facilities, top notch fans (the hardcore/away support) and instead of tacking the challenge head on, he's bottled it and ran back up north over the border to his tin pot league with a club with an average attendance of 15k. Is that the kind of person you want taking charge if he's **** scared of it?
and Bart and Roger. Bart has been going on about Sam the whole time we've needed a manager. Different planet man.
This is it mate. Apart from the fact we have no money and are in the position of potentially changing owners, minor issues I know, this is still a bloody good job to have. Potential big crowd, superb training facilities and if you get this right and be some sort of success you are set for life. The guy just bottled it and wanted to stay in Scotland. Well done.
Something like this 3 quarters of the fan base are blind to the problems and restraints in place at the club, they think the club can be fixed from the dugout. Delutional fan base who get pretty nasty on social media. Taking the Sunderland job is like being thrown to the dogs. Short is the problem, always has been, but the fans will scapegoat the manager and make it impossible for you to continue and keep self respect in tact. In the meantime the transfer budget is small and the wage budget is even smaller. The fans will get on your back when you buy all you can afford though, they've seem to think you can turn nowt into something that can buy quality players. it can't and they don't get it. Run! Stay away!
Spot on Bri. I use Facebook a lot and can't believe some of the comments. A lot of our fans need a reality check because we are in dire straits with no sign of anything improving any time soon. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Exactly. I't not bad on this forum(a tiny platform) but between Twitter, facebook and RTG it's just pillar to post knobheads. Great for humour though but falls short on the basic of supporting your club.
Funny he wasn't scared until he got the details. Think it's less fear and more a calculated decision on his own career.
Agreed - had it been me I'd have told him to come now and show some commitment or not to bother at all.
We couldn't because it took us 4 weeks to get permission to speak to him. We flew out to him as soon as we got permission. That wasted 4 weeks over 200k is disgrace.
You aren't that big to be "scaring" managers away. There isn't even any expectations among the support (apart from not being embarrassed I suspect?) so what would he fear? My guess is he heard some things he didn't like from the club and has done an about turn.
