Good luck to the fella, it's been a joy to watch him play for us and I only wish one day we have a team of players of his talent

Yeah. If he stays fit he'll keep Bournemouth up on his own. Will score 15 next season minimum imo.

    For 3 years! That's £20m

He'd be knocking on 38 when that deal was up. Mind you, I thought he was washed up a few years back so what do I know.

He may not get the same game time at Bournemouth that he did with us, there was no competition here at all. We may even benefit from him going as we relied on him far too much. I am by the way one of his biggest fans he is a superb goal scorer and worth his weight in gold literally, but as a leader of the line he lacked the presence that Big Vic brought to the table, albeit too rarely, and even then in the wrong place to be really effective, Moyes played him wide to accommodate Defoe in a front three which for me (in hindsight) was one of our worst departments as the formation rigidly adhered too did not suit the players available. In a nutshell Moyes had no plan B.

I kept asking myself the question - are the midfield being instructed that their priority is only to get the ball to him ( pity they weren't good enough to do so effectively) - he is the one who will take shots and it's not your job to do so. Watching other, even the poorer teams, they seemed to have players surging forward with the attack, in comparison our lot too often seemed to be just hanging back and letting JD get on with it

£130k ! Well done JD/your agent. A massive pay rise at age 34. Just highlights again our financial problems when a club this size can pay so much

I read it was £65k... I think the original reports of 130 were just sensationalist journalism.

65k for 3 years at 35 is still absolutely mental money. Fair play to the bloke for keeping himself fit for the top level for so long.
