Not knocking him at all, he did his best, and would have without doubt got more goals had he had a decent team around him - but, (just factually) his goals didn't actually help us all that much.. Take away the penalties ( assume Borini if playing or if not one of the others would have managed to score a penalty) then only the winner v. Leicester got us any points (3 instead of 1) All his other goals came in games we lost, or would have still won without his scores. He got us 2 points, even PVA got us 3 ! Still, wish he was staying , presumably in a more attack minded team next year
Defoe did all he could for our club, model professional, shame he was let down by those around him...good luck, hope he gets the move he wants.
I feel the Bradley Lowery situation has affected Defoe since the turn of the year, I appreciate all he has done for the club but think his head has been elsewhere for the past six months. His obvious closeness to young Bradley has been very touching, I know if I was going through such mental anguish it would affect my day job. Just saying..
At least we know who we'll be drawn against in one of the cups next season. Get yer money on it! Bournemouth!
Scared to get injured and look what happen today. Looks like signing for Bournemouth. Just putting it out there.
The lad's served us well so fair play to him having options to go where he wants to. And I don't believe for a second that Bradley's situation has had any bearing on Defoe's form. He's shown himself to be a good professional for many years now. I don't think he needs that excuse as to his recent form, if in any way that was implied. All players go through dips. Just to add, if we hadn't had Defoe the last couple of seasons, no way would we have survived that long to pick up £100m this season. He's paid his way. And then some.
Good luck to Defoe. He's a class act and we couldn't live up to his aspirations. If we had more support up there for him this season then he would definitely be over 20 goals this season. The goal he scored against Chelsea towards the end of last season when Big Sam was with us was just ruthless and technically brilliant....I wish him well on his journey....
Good luck to the bloke. That will have been lined up once it was confirmed we were dropping. There's nowt wrong with acting quickly, when you can.
