He may dislike us for reasons unknown but can't say i disagree with Prutton's assessment as to how the current team would do in PL.

I don't think we would do as badly as some seem to think but hope Cashley gets his cheque book out to match Rafa's (and my) ambitions about being involved in the PL top half and trophies.

Occasionally go onto Mackem board and read threads about how poor the Championship is in quality. Ignoring the obvious pot, kettle black scenario i do think they will seriously struggle next year in the Championship when Defoe and Pickford have gone combined with their debt and their more pernicious than our's owner and the fact they haven't got Wiljnaldum or Sissoko to sell.

I'd still say we're a much bigger draw than Stoke/WBA regardless if we've recently been relegated/promoted.

I'd like players like Affelay, Arnautovic, Imbulla from Stoke in our team so can't argue in repsect of the level of players we'd be after.

Trick is unearthing a gem like Kante from some 3rd division French team to have a great season. How the **** Carr missed him on his holidays down to France I'll never know!!!

There are players with the ability to play in the Premiere League here but this squad alone would drop straight back down, even with Rafa at the helm. We need to move the fringe players on and bring in competition for our better players.

 

We definitely have a bit of pulling power. Especially if we can keep Rafa but we need to make sure we don't waste the chance. NEED to buy a few quality players. A CM is critical for me. Shelvey is Prem quality but doesn't like it if he is not given time on the ball so we have to make sure we can compete in the middle. He is right about the spine. We probably have to get a CM a CF and CB, in that order as a priority
