Sentenced to 21 months in prison this morning for punching the eagle at Palace.

I abhor animal cruelty as much as the next person but dear oh dear - this is NOT what prison is there for FFS !

    Thoughts ?

Judges love to make an example of people arrested at football games. He will be out in 10 months, though.

The judge in question should resign today.

No wonder our prisons are overcrowded

Punish the bloke by buying him a Charlton season ticket for next year

    An absolute disgrace.

The prisons are overcrowded enough as it is.

What punishment do you get for punching a squirrel?:emoticon-0146-punch

How on earth do you get convicted of 'attempting to punch' an eagle. He either punched it or didn't.

Just tell the Judge the Eagle flew too close and you put your hands up to protect yourself. Unless of course he had boxing gloves on, a gum shield, stood facing the Eagle South Paw and gave him a quick combination, I don't see how you could possibly be convicted of this heinous crime.

I would have kicked the dude in the cods for 75 minutes.

And then jailed him for 21 months.

Why did the handler take the animal close enough to the Charlton fans so a hyped up fan could throw a punch in the first place?

Surely the handler should get done for incitement?

The tweet does seem to say he was convicted of more than one offence. I can understand why the authorities wish to send a strong message by making an example of football fans who do violent things inside grounds.

21 months does sound a long time when we read in the papers of people being convicted of serious GBH and not going to prison at all.
But despite the media coverage, all of us who were not in court probably only know a fraction of the whole story.

The punishments do not fit the crime in so many cases.

In the early 90's I was done for being drunk in a football ground at Forest away. No violence nothing, steward pulled me over whilst having a coffee(to sober up) and I got done.

Anyway, I go back to Nottingham a few weeks later and get done £75.

The herberts before me with a string of convictions the length of their arm were done for burglary and fined £150.

So that makes me half as bad as them ffs!

What is so remarkable about you @baraettmattesvensson is just how very little of the match you actually watch <cheers>

You are a borderline celeb at away games and with your own song ..

I have seen the whole game at Bury, Fleetwood, Bolton, Shrewsbury and Northampton for starters.

You'll have to find somebody else to stalk next season<rose>
