It was a bit of a roller coaster year aye! I love it though. I would rather win the league then finish 10th the following season, than finish 4th twice and win **** all.
Yup. Those are two sacking I wholeheartedly agree with. The two sackings I was vehemently against was Jose (first tenure) and Ancelotti. Dumb arse moves.
Avram Grant? What happened with De Matteo (excuse spelling)? He was sacked after winning the CL wasn't he?
Grant was appointed director of football around 2007? But never held a top flight coaching certificate he later bought in Steve Clark. Not a personal favourite but he took us to Moscow where we lost out on penalties to United. I quite liked Di Matteo who was bought in to help AVB and took over after he was shown the door. our epic win in Bayern in the CL final. I think it was always going to be a temporary post for Di Matteo although it was a two year contract and his obvious historic win couldn't have made him easy to sack.
"Neutral" ??? .. damn it .. I thought he'd described himself as "Neutered" ...very nearly gave him a 'like' in agreement
Nor can I ... but it seems bizarre to take the piss out of us for simply doing what you did ... making you the only reigning Champions not to qualify from the group stages!
And we did win the Europey league That kinda made up for it In the CL its not always about which team is the best. It's a knockout, so desire, stubbornness and a generous slice of luck can easily win the day. We had that in spades in 2012, despite being the underdog. And no amount of Roman's money can buy that. That was instilled in to the team by the manager and players. Arsenal have no heart and no fight in their team, and no leaders, on or off the pitch. When you see players like Kieran Gibbs wearing the captains armband, you gotta start questioning the personnel.
Yep and we did it tough taking out Napoli, Benfica & Barcelona on the way to kicking the Krauts arses.
If we should be embarrassed by failing to qualify then clearly it is far more embarrassing for the rrigning champions to do the same. We arenot the first and will not be the last English team to fail to qualify but Chelsea were the first reigning champions, are still the only reigning champions and could well be the only reigning champions to fail to qualify from the group stages. Nothing stops you being CL winners but nothing stops the massive embarrassment that followed. It is with that in mind that calling us embarrassing is ... well... embarrassing.
