Hey, was just writing to find out what you guys thought about him? I know he is only 19 but has anyone seen him play? Or heard any news about how good he is?
thought he looked ok (only saw him once though) think some of the others might have seen him play a few more games than me
He is a good young player, but will not be ready for a good few years. He only made around 7 appearances, but already showed some versatility by slotting in at right and left back. I am surprised that Arsenal have moved for him, but you guys rarely get it wrong with youngsters so I'm sure it will work out to your benefit.
Massively overrated, he's 19 but played like a 16/17 year old. The defence always looked unbalanced with him in it, and meant the more experienced defenders like Dailly had to constantly cover him. He's not the worst though, but doubt he'd ever get a full league game for Arsenal. Best qualities - decent tackle, alright on the ball Bad qualities - can't cross, no left foot, poor in the air.
I am sure under proper guidance - which he will surely get - he will improve in leaps and bounds. He will surely learn fast understudying Sagna, who must be one of the best FB in world football. Just keep him away from Phil Parkinson
Agree with that completely, houndal. 6years, are The Gunners still interested then? As you can imagine, there was a right ruck here when he refused to re-sign, but since then things have gone a bit quiet. I fully expected him to go as soon as the last ball had been kicked. Question is, was the interest real, or was it his agent talking pony?
According to the Finnish FA the deal is done- reported on their site y'day with a ã1million figure given.
yeah the deal is done according to some sources... He will probably go out on loan next season by the sounds of it and hopefully get some games under his belt!
A million pounds...ye gods. You're right, houndal - good business all round, especially for a player who's only played a handful of games and I suspect wouldn't be welcomed back in a Charlton shirt by a significant majority of fans. For this reason, can't see him coming back on loan, if they really want to see what he can do the Championship looks a better bet.
Agreed Houndal, we can count the number of games he's played on both hands, and we've still got Solly who plays RB and is of a similar age (and also at a later stage of his development). I can't see Jenkinson hacking Championship football, tbh I didn't even think he was quite ready for League One this season.
Not sure of the point of this conversation as he leaves us, but he is quick, uses 2 feet (cracking left foot cross I remember from him when he switched to LB) and he chases everything. He simply didn't get enough games and therefore not enough experience - much like Jonjo.
I thought Jenkinson looked out of his depth too especially at left back and his run in the team also co-incided with a slump of form
I really rated Jenkinson! I think a lot of people changed there feelings for him when they found out he was leaving! Too be fair I wish him the best of luck hes a talented young lad!
I don't know about "really rating him", I am not sure any of us can do that on what we saw of him in what was a poor team. Yes he did show a bit of talent that had been honed by our coaches, but I beleive the jury's out. He was certainly not the raw talent that appeared with Shelvey or (maybe time is giving me a differnet perspective) the talent that was Parker in his first few matches. So for me whilst I wont diss the lad for ability, my strong perspective on him is the "sod you lot I don't care for what you've invested in me" attitude that came out around the time he was offered a contract. Yes we may have got £1m for him but, unlike Parker, Shelvey and the like of Robert Lee, he owes us, not the other way around.
