It was a complete joke the ref just kept on giving France penalty after penalty advantage for 20 minutes even though on some plays it should have been a Wales penalty.
We played well and controlled the game but just look how many chances we had but how many where on target. That's a worry but it's a good point. A draw with Leeds and Brighton would be good for us.
2 weeks off to regroup and get ready for the final push. I think the players need it, although I guess a few will be away on international duty.
We're so boring, though. We have this big name manager in charge, a number of 'flair' players yet seem to play firmly focused on defence. Epitomised at the end of the Birmingham game - Rafa screaming at Atsu to defend, watch his man, track his runner. We're literally dragging ourselves towards the line but in such a manner that you just look at next season with dread. There's no way we're going to upgrade half the team - I'd bet my house on Dummett being on the team sheet if we get promoted. So what's the point? It's not been a lot of fun and the fans have been unbelievable. Every week they turn up, trying to spur the lads on, yet it's so often this insipid, life-sapping football you do think "is this all we've got to look forward to?" Next season, if we go up, the goal is 17th. The aim again will be grab points however you can. All feels a bit......groundhog day.
Sure looks offside on the highlights, mate. Watch them on Sky; there's a chance near the end where Gayle crosses low, deflects out and about 16 yards the ball rolls so kindly for Colback. His shot is deflected, the report will say. However, his "shot" would have been lucky to hit the corner flag. It's having no marks like him in the team that is killing us every week.
Even in the year we came 2nd under Rafa and scored she'd loads we weren't always exciting to watch even with Torres Gerrard Alonso. Hes very mich a solid first flair after type manager and nothing will really change that.
Rafa has made this league much harder than it needed to be. His tactics at times are the reason why we aren't 10 points clear at the top. Away from home generally spot on if awful to watch. At home we are shocking and generally dire. Birmingham were there for the taking. We should have gone there and played two up top.
Honestly, I'd rather be entertained! What's the point in winning for winnings sake, serve up turgid football week in week out and make up the numbers in the premier league. I'd sooner stay in the championship and watch decent football, unfortunately we don't seem to be doing that either
I will say that Rafa was sacked by Real and left Napoli because of his style of football. Chelsea fans dislike him for the same reason.
This is definitely the best result for us on the day. The pessimist inside me can't help thinking that Leeds are now only 9 points behind though. God I hate being a Toon fan sometimes
From the man who corrected me when I said I stop getting so nervous when we have a 3 goal lead...........
