FT - huge result, made all the sweeter with a depleted team and down to 10men. Page will be relieved.
Well done Charlton, to play with ten men for over eighty minutes after going 1-0 down is excellent. Where is Royston/ leaf lower hiding himself?
Hats off to our ten men today Just got back to Manchester from Bolton. The afternoon got off to a terrible start with idiotic Lewis Page sent off - rightly so- in the 11th min for a professional foul. Bolton scored from the resulting free kick, and for a while after it was looking a long afternoon in store. We equalised with a free kick from the Left which Bauer then stooped to score. We then saw an outbreak of fighting in our end between a group of beered- up lads and their aggressive stewards. Our second goal was a good one, with the yeoman-like Foster Caskey breaking from midfield and playing in Byrne on the right, who finished well. The second half was a long one and we created next to nothing, or nowt as they say up here. Time wasting was terrific and Solly and Rudd were standouts in a solid back 4. MOM today was Konsa for a flawless abd terrifically assured performance at centre half. This is clearly his best position, and he gave a masterclass of interceptions, headers and tackles. Novak and Holmes replaced Watt and Aribo as we tired, and the whole squad and Robinson came over to our fans at the end for a well deserved clap. 2-3 new players still needed though before next Weds, and big question marks about Lewis Page in my opinion.
Think Bauer has to share the blame for the sending off/goal. Can't have a centre half bottling a challenge like that. Much braver for the goal though.
Wow. What sounded like a real battleing, backs to the wall performance. I won't shout out individuals (as I wasn't there) but that was one of those matches that live on in the memory. I'm sure Karl would've settled for a draw, but with ten minutes left and having passed most of the game with a man less, I'm sure I wasn't the only one dreading the huge home roar and the news our brave boys were beaten at the death. But no, three vital points, and the play offs are still a possibility. I'm happy for the fans who went, and the players and management who can come home feeing proud. Happy days for us!!
If it were last season we would have buckled, just like Brighton away. Credit to KR, he's certainly improving the morale around the first.
