Couldn't decide whether Albert had already done the match thread in his normal minimalist style so did this anyway as its match day and our annual quest to reach the FA Cup final starts today (and probably ends around 5pm).
Trust in Rafa to go with a full strength side to get some confidence back in the side against a fellow Championship side after a couple of defeats. If I was him I would play all the 4 players we will lose to ACON for the full 90mins just to teach them a lesson for being African so expect Mohamed Diame (Senegal), Christian Atsu (Ghana), Achraf Lazaar (Morocco), Chancel Mbemba – (DR Congo)to be involved.

Agree, Albert really has upped his game here. Must have been a new year resolution to make more of an effort. Just annoying that he's joined the stupid 'username-change brigade' to confuse us.

 

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if we lost today. Our focus has to be automatic promotion so the less distractions and congested fixtures the better. Lets get some new quality signings in and give it 100% in the Championship before the chasers actually catch up, which they look like doing at present.

 

Hoping Sels has a good game, always felt like he got dropped at the wrong time after all the twitter abuse.

 

Disagree. I think we're a bit fragile after some ropey results and performances. We could really do with controlling this and picking up a comfortable 2 or 3-0 win. A cup run would help morale a little, we need a win in whichever competition right now.

I have a feeling, however, we'll come unstuck. Zola loved the FA Cup and they've got fck all else going for them. I suspect we'll play same old 4-2-3-1 but make the worse mistake of putting weak players in and just hoping it comes good.

Under Pardew, this selection would have been utterly lambasted as "not interested" in the cup.
