Love seeing people get there first ski under their belts. ... I went to Andorra on family trip with a few other families (ended up about 40 people) in Pas de la casa. Also went to Courchevel in France on a lads trip with 20 of us who have been going for about 15 years.

How did you get on ? Where did you go?

My wife, 2 younger kids and I went to a small ski resort near Strasbourg in France called Gerardmer. I actually won the trip on a competition by Kronenbourg beer!
None of us had ever ski'd before (although we have ice-skated) so we took 1 hours tuition in Milton Keynes Snodome a couple of weeks before.
The wife struggled - she isn't good with physical stuff involving balance. The kids and I did ok and after day 2 were on the intermediate run.
I have a hilarious video of my son skiing out of control, shouting all the way, down the slope, with people jumping out of his way and he finally throws himself onto the floor to avoid crashing into the group of families at the bottom!
It was great fun and I would definitely do it again. Expensive hobby though.

Nice one, but expensive, tell me about it! the kids will be hooked for life now though. it's the only holiday my son and daughter will accompany us on.

I love it to be honest but my knees are feeling it more each time, after about 3 visits it all becomes so much easier and less expensive as you have the kit and no lessons to pay out for.

I never got to play a competitive game of football with my son (He's pretty decent) but at least we can share a few tricky ski runs together and thats almost as good. but only almost!

I'm really lucky - I HAVE played competitive football with my son - but we don't play together now because he did his ankle playing rugby at Uni and now doesn't like to play because he suffers for weeks afterwards.
It makes me feel even more lucky considering I can still play twice a week (5-a-side) at 50 and feel fine the next day, when he can't at 26.

drove up from the west side in a torrential thunderstorm, on each of about 25 hair pin bends it was a dice with death ... as the torrent of water just came down straight never followed the road. saw 3 cars with massive damage, well smashed windows door panels roof's etc the water force moved rocks as big as footballs like a ping ball in a gentle breeze .. and then there was the demon one about 50-60kgs that just got momentum and did its own thing, one bounced about 2 m over a car in front. Being in a fiat CAMPER, sit higher up, I had a view often of the road where I was going after the bend and could see what was coming, slow/pause stop/ go like sh** got one rock hit the front bumper but made it to the top where the road from Spain joins ... and a policeman stopping cars GOING DOWN!............
