After something that was said a few days ago, I got to thinking: this has been a bizarre season with the top teams dropping more points than usual against the smaller clubs.

So I thought, what would the table look like without the top teams? Well, here's the answer (apologies for the poor formatting!).

    Without the top 4:

    Home Away Total
GF GA Pts GF GA Pts GF GA Pts
    1 Tottenham 26 15 32 21 20 23 47 35 55
    2 Fulham 25 15 28 17 14 17 42 29 45
    3 Liverpool 28 12 30 18 23 14 46 35 44
    4 Everton 24 17 27 16 17 16 40 34 43
    5 West Brom 26 21 29 21 28 13 47 49 42
    6 Bolton 30 15 31 17 25 11 47 40 42
    7 Stoke 25 13 29 14 22 12 39 35 41
    8 Wigan 20 20 22 18 20 19 38 40 41
    9 Blackburn 19 10 27 22 33 13 41 43 40
    10 Aston Villa 21 13 26 16 29 13 37 42 39
    11 Newcastle 35 19 23 11 23 16 46 42 39
    12 Blackpool 24 25 20 23 26 19 47 51 39
    13 Sunderland 21 22 21 17 22 17 38 44 38
    14 Birmingham 15 16 21 16 26 12 31 42 33
    15 West Ham 20 18 20 18 30 13 38 48 33
    16 Wolverhampton 25 26 19 12 26 12 37 52 31

    And without the top 6:

    Home Away Total
GF GA Pts GF GA Pts GF GA Pts
    1 Fulham 22 8 28 17 12 17 39 20 45
    2 Bolton 26 12 28 15 21 11 41 33 39
    3 Stoke 22 11 26 12 17 12 34 28 38
    4 West Brom 23 19 25 19 25 12 42 44 37
    5 Blackburn 16 8 24 19 27 13 35 35 37
    6 Aston Villa 19 11 23 15 24 13 34 35 36
    7 Sunderland 20 18 21 14 19 15 34 37 36
    8 Everton 20 16 21 13 14 14 33 30 35
    9 Newcastle 31 17 19 11 18 16 42 35 35
    10 Wigan 19 19 20 16 19 15 35 38 35
    11 Birmingham 14 15 19 15 19 12 29 34 31
    12 Blackpool 19 23 14 20 24 15 39 47 29
    13 Wolverhampton 22 20 18 10 23 9 32 43 27
    14 West Ham 16 17 14 18 27 12 34 44 26

Basically Fulham have suffered as the result of the erratic form of the "top clubs". We've had a conventional season whilst everyone else has been topsy turvy - considering the stats, I think we are entitled to claim we are the best of the (non-rich) rest!

    Thoughts?

I like it, just goes to show what can happy with £££
(althought most say that £££ is the only reason we are where we are today...)

Thats some very well researched stats there surlyc. I'm personally delighted with the state of affairs at the club and think we're in a really strong position to push on for next season. Just a bit anxious about hearing the final fair play verdict now!

    Thanks for producing that Surlyc.

I think those are amazing stats and really show what a good season we've had. Also, it shows what we could do if we only get a couple of wins against the top 4/6.

Finally, interesting to note who goes down in your tables. Wolves really did do very well against the top teams.
