THC targets a completely different type of receptor fella. Two types of receptor CB1 which is targeted by THC, these receptors are located throughout the brain. and the CB2 receptors which CBD targets and are in tune with the immune system and are located throughout the body in organs and tissue.

2 of the main chemicals in weed just so happen to target each of the two cannabis receptors that have been discovered in the human body. Makes sense one of the priority route of testing is to try and discover if and how they work together but restrictions in the law are making it difficult. They're not now producing dozens of new strains with different combos of THC and CBD content becauce CBD is best on it own. Sure enough different strains with different ratios work better on different ailments. It's already been suggested in early experiments in rats that THC and CBD both attack different cancer cells

If CBD oil was job done there'd be no need for the discussion, no need for calls for legalisation for medicinal and research reasons, the people of the US wouldn't be fighting federal law to legalise it. Most the world has been able to study CBD since 1990 and it's never really got beyond the supplement shelf.

There's something special about THC, which is why scientists and users alike want the freedom of research. I think in time THC will prove the key to unlocking the powers of CBD's full potential. It's wrong to dismiss it given it's an area of study which has been by and large restricted by laws but on the little that's been done has shown a link to them working in tandem, imo. It's like the world is flat theory, safe and dismissive but turned out to be oh so wrong. The science isn't done by a long shot mate, barely scratched the surface.

I wonder if it's possible in the future to extract the psychoactive compound out of THC so you can target the CB1 without the high? Or is the psychoactive element the main reason for hitting the CB1.

Fascinating stuff and certainly something I'll be keeping a close eye on.

Possibly, but in the meantime it's easy to bypass. Suppositories inserted shallowly into the rectum means the THC bypasses the liver and continue it's job without any psychoactive effects.

Bypass the liver, bypass the the high. ;)

Brian, you'll know more about this than me.
My old mam is in severe pain due to arthritis.
She's on tramadol atm but it doesn't really help.
Taking her to the doctors tomorrow see if she can get morphine patches.
Will this CBD stuff help the pain?

I'd say yes defo. it's widely recognised it works well on things like arthritis. Any inflammatory joint disease it seems to excel in. Try and discourage the opiates mate at least try and reduce them. Knowing you're 50 she must be a canny age. That **** will sap the quality of life right out of her.

You can buy it over the counter. It's legal, tell your doctor that you're trying it whether he likes it not so he might as well set his treatment to include it. If it only led to reducing the dosage of opiates a bit, it's been a success which will improve the quality of life.

All the best fella, hope it works.

Yeah, she'll be 80 next year.
She's on that many meds man, some for heart problems.
It's just torture watching her suffer.
I'm not trained to look after old people & I'm struggling tbh.
It's a full time job & I'm just thankful when I can get out the house for a pint or two.
But hey, she's wiped my arse a plenty times when I was a bairn.
I guess it's my turn now.

He reckons it would conflict with some of her meds of which she is on many.

That's why he needs to make adjustments. The lazy usless jobsworth. Up to you and your mum fella. Sad to think she'll spend her final years barely lucid on that junk.

Has he taken her off Tramadol at least? Or is just a big bump up in opiate dosage?

Weed has even managed to bring Billy and Bri together, if that's not proof that it works miracles then nothing else is.
