As the title says, what's your favourite and least favourite ground you've visited as an away fan in the PL?

And any on the bucket list for this season?

I haven't actually visited many current PL grounds with Whl and Upton Park gone. Only Arsenal, Chelsea and Bournemouth.

Have to say Chelsea my favourite from that lot, had a decent view at the Emirates but was a cup game so wasn't in 'proper' away end. Prefer older grounds too.

This season definitely plan on Selhurst, St James and Goodison. Might try get to OT too but that depends on work as it falls between Xmas and new year.

Would love to do Brighton too but will to need find a STH who's not going.

  2. I think Spurs can make The Library our favourite away ground, now that there has been a Power-Shift.

Least favourite ground has got to be Chavs, for me.

In terms of viewer enjoyment, I like St Marys a lot. Least favourite is Hammers new ground.

Loved Arsenals new ground I watched the Chelsea game there when we won 2-1. Sat in the Arsenal end using a mates season ticket. Even though I obviously didn't celebrate too much but the fans directly around me were all ok with it and you wouldn't get that in many places. Met up with the Welsh gooner and mates before the game in the Tollington, great bunch of guys.

Portsmouth is another ground where they go the extra mile for away disabled fans. Took my brother who suffers from cerebral palsey and they were magnificent. Upton Park was a veritable ****hole as was white hart lane along with Crystal Palace.

Other likes are Loftus Road, Brentford & Molineux

Current premier league ones all seem a bit crap. Give me a Bramall Lane, Hillsborough, Oakwell away day any day.
Huddersfield was quite good when I went

I liked Goodison despite the view. It did help that we won somehow.

    Stoke is exceptionally grim.

Stoke is a windy ****hole, that's filled with absolute twats.

My favourite old away ground was Villa, but in the current PL it's definitely Old Trafford

Not actually been to too many grounds.

Anfield, Wembley, Stamford Bridge, Highbury, Selhurst Park, Upton Park, Portman Road, Ricoh Arena, Fratton Park, St Mary's and Croke Park.

I would say the least enjoyable was Wembley (new) which, although huge, is ugly and being an England game - was disappointing and quiet.

For a new ground there is a nasty concrete finish everywhere and expensive food & drink.

Surprise ground for me was the Ricoh Arena. Very nice - just a shame there was barely any Coventry fans in it.

The Ricoh is an abomination. Everything that is wrong with modern stadia. No pubs, nowhere near a station, miles from the pitch, one tier nonsense.

Villa Park is an amazing ground. Also really like Goodison. Old style football grounds with lots of soul. It broke my heart when they tore Highbury down, but I know it was essential for Arsenal moving forward. The Emirates is actually is really impressive stadium, but Highbury was special.

Haven't been to an away game for years now. But the worst one I went to was the Old Den. The whole area is an utter ****hole and full of racist thugs and wannabe gangstas. Back in the 80's the Den was a nasty place to visit. It was only a few miles down the road from me in Lewisham, but it felt like Beirut down there.

The old Stamford bridge was also a horrid hole of a ground. There used to be a track around the pitch, so you were miles away from the action. Also the away end was a rounded terrace with several pens and huge imposing fences with those nasty spikes on the top. As an away fan you'd often get locked in for an hour after the final whistle whilst the Old Bill tried to disperse hooligans. You then had to run the gauntlet from the ground to the station, hoping not to get your head kicked in.

I went to Birmingham Uni so lived amongst them for three years.

They've got a ridiculous sense of their own importance because they had a good side 35 years ago.

    That awful accent.

The massive chip on their shoulders towards Londoners which doesnt seem to be shared by Birmingham, Wolves etc.

They just generally seem uneducated at the match. You expect a bias but most groups of fans I've encountered appreciate when their player has scythed someone down or when the ball has clearly come off their player. They just mindlessly howl for every decision to the point of it being boring.
