A Christmas message to special people who post on this magnificent forum, and compliments of the season! Now below is a video message to particular people who are deserving of this, (you know who you are pals)!
10 minutes to go....Lex Immers reluctantly warming up, commentator said! Can't believe that a player in his position cannot raise his mental state....on big money too!
Should have won that by a mile. Defending for their 4 goals atrocious. The midfield runners appalling. The goalkeeping abysmal. (NW needs a new keeper desperately) The finishing amateur. On another day would have won at a canter. No rub of the green. Their keeper better. Their attacking midfielders better. Their finishing better. Decent shout for a penalty. Hit woodeork. But City should have been out of sight and gifted at least 3 goals. Credit for the comeback but just shot themselves in the foot too often. Cruel ending. Everything went against City but a lot of it was their own fault.
Couldn't understand the game stats at all... but now the comments on here put it into perspective. Thanks very much Masky for the video and the wishes. The same to you and all our readers. Have a good one and take care all.
Defensively a complete shambles. Our midfield went awol when it came to keeping it tight and we had no answer to the quick break. I thought the two fullbacks had terrible games. Both Connolly and Peltier looked out of their depth on times - some of their positional play was horrendous. Our slow midfield was exposed today. Their lack of pace getting back meant when we lost the ball the Barnsley guys had a free run at goal - that was disastrous. Big work needed to stop the opposition scoring in the first place - no point in trying to play catchup and leaving even more space. To be honest, the second half was a very good overall display and Barnsley looked scared, but the damage had already been done.
Warnock indicated that he was tired with some of his players ignoring his instructions, and had had enough of it. I got the impression that he was talking fullbacks as in "leaving the goalposts unattended at corners" etc. Be interested to see who will be left out against Brentford...Connolly and Peltier possibly, but he praises Peltier on a constant basis!
Peltier is playing the wrong side. Connelly should be dropped for a left sided full back, Bennett. Wilson can't do any worse than Amos surely. Noone was poor; he's best as an impact player now. Don't suppose we'll face a team so good on the break that often but it's disappointing seeing so many good chances wasted. Lambert 9 times out of 10 would have made it 4-3 but on the day it wasn't our day! It was almost as if the gods allowed us to make it 3-3 just to see us get kicked in the goolies right at the death.
I thought he was talking about our corners, they broke quickly from them because players were not where they should have been. We had 12 corners, they had 3.
Slow centre back at right back and right footed right back at left back no balance. And Morrison so slow. Wolves nearly found us out. Barnsley must have watched and noted that. Pelts must return to rb and Bennett to lb. Not sure about criticism of Whitts defence. Twice he was last man and dug us out second half. Positionally we were so poor from our attacking set pieces. Warnock must take some blame for that.
Not really criticising Whitts Bluey. Whitts and Gunnar did more than their fair share of defending when they were actually there - the problem is getting there. When we lost the ball upfield, particulary after our set pieces, Barnsley new exactly what to do. Run hard and pass the ball forward quickly - we had no answer. We've always seemed adept at defending deep and that's something we've criticised successive managers for. The point is when we push up and take it to the opposition we have to be mobile enough to stop the inevitable counter attacks. We were hopeless in that regard yesterday. I thought Manga came out of the game with a lot of credit defensively but the rest were a shambles of organisation when it came to stopping a quick response from Barnsley - and I'm afraid that includes our slow midfield yesterday.
..........and another thing ............It wasn't just that that fooked us. I don't want to blame the guy too much but Amos could have cost us two goals and ultimately the game. That first looping header reminded me of Heaton in that Middlesbrough (I think) defeat a few years back. Badly out of position and gave himself no chance of getting to it with a desparing afterthought of a dive. The other was a rush of blood for their 3rd goal charging out for a 50/50 ball when we had a defender going for it as well. He gave their final man an open net - poor keeping that needs to be addressed in January.
No argument on Amos' positioning but where was Morrison's marking for the first one? 5 ft 9 striker out jumps 6 ft 3 centre half. Pi$$ poor!!!
Agreed. Just looked at the vid - didn't realise he'd stood off so far. He should have taken the guy out of the frame with his sheer size advantage.
Whitts must take part of the blame for Wolves goal too, our defender had to go with their man, that left a big hole which Whitts should have filled, yes he did try but so slow. For his defence yesterday his corners were top marks we could/should have had 3 or 4 goals from them.
When Hudson left, we lost any real leadership we had at the back, and with Marshall also gone, there is no organization at all. Drives me nuts! I know we were spoilt by having Marshall for so long...but man. With Marshall we would probably be about 6-7 points better off this season.
