Thought I'd better start a thread to educate those who are of less knowledge of us Aussies' way of life. Nothing better than throwing a couple of snags on the barbie to kick things off. Making sure the esky is cold and full is paramount. Only one day Aussie Today was Wellington s day Next week is Auckland Following Monday is Waitangi day Middle of Feb before anyone works a full week
Sorry Aussie, couldn't give a f@ck about it tbh! I'm not Australian so I'm not interested I'm English and couldn't give a toss if there was an English day ether. I hated English so much I used to bunk off that lesson very often. You can all probably tell by my often poor spelling!
thats a bit harsh utrs we should all celebrate each others national days now whose day will we be gloryng in australia **** the criminals you were right first time mate
Yes, a tad harsh being that the harden crims went direct to NZ and we Aussies were only classified as criminals cause our fathers acquired some much needed bread to feed their children. As Kiwi says, all National Days should be celebrated with much passion ............... and pisss.
Between 1788 and 1868, about 162,000 convicts were transported by the British government to various penal colonies in Australia Some of New Zealand’s earliest European settlers may have been escaped austrailians. James Cavanagh escaped from a australian ship that called into New Zealand in 1804. Charlotte Badger arrived in the Bay of Islands in 1806 as one of a group of australian mutineers who had seized the Venus. Many of the early sealers around New Zealand’s coasts were former australians. So were some of the early shore whalers, including Jacky Guard, who established Te Awaiti whaling station in the Marlborough Sounds in 1827.
Ahhhhhh. Straya Day is here. Just cooked some snags with beer caramelised onions and some dead horse to cap it off . Dead horse is sause, as in, BBQ sause. Happy Days!!!!
Many thanks mate. It was a nice day, some good Aussie tucker and a couple of beverages, a visit to see the grandkids in the arvo and our day was complete. Cheers.
Think celebrates all prisoner carrying ships arriving from NZ ........................ The story goes, all crims arriving from NZ were given a sausage with sauce and a cold beer. Even though they were still in ball & chains, they were just happy to hit the Aussie towns night life.
It's not Australia Day but l feel like another day off! Great weather of late. We're having summer already down here. Just wearing the old g string as we speak!
