Schalke look very good, I don't think I'd want them at this stage. Probably easier to say which I wouldn't want tbh... Atletico Bilbao, Roma, and probably Besiktas simply because of the away fixture being tricky for all sorts of reasons.
I honestly do not think it matters who we get. This sounds arrogant but the reality is that JM will play his strongest side no matter what. At Ieast with Roma or athletico Bilbao, United will know what to expect. And any side that JM puts out will give anyone in the competition a game.
Mid day tomorrow. Is there anyone to fear, really? Look at who's left and we really should beat them all. It would be madness to not really go for it in this comp.
Agreed. At the moment I think we can beat any of the sides left in the tournament, there is nothing to fear out there, especially over two legs.
Without jinxing it, if there is currently a classic Cup side then it is United. There is always a draw in the team. And whilst that's disastrous in the league it is a saviour in the cups. Even that defeat we had against Hull was meaningless. No points lost, no replays, nothing. It looks that JM believes that United can progress far into the competition by fielding a strong side even when he is 3-0 up.
Kudos to Mourinho if United can win the one trophy we havent so far. I still dont see the season so far has provided any evidence to suggest we can beat the best sides left in the competition, but it's probably our best chance of getting CL footy. And winning a trophy while doing so is better than finishing top 4.
No reason why we can't do both. I'm genuinely baffled by your continued pessimism that we can't overturn a two point gap with 13 games remaining.
Not pessism at all. And I've never said we can't. Just going by the season so far I see little evidence of it. We can list our games if you like and you can point me where there is.
We've lost once in 25 games and that was in the league Cup semi which we'd effectively won in the first leg. That points you to serious form in the run in. What's gone is gone, it's what is to come that counts and, especially considering we play both Spurs and Arsenal, I see no reason at all why we can't overturn a piffling two point gap to finish at least 4th. I can see how good we've become, you're obviously struggling to see it as well but it is definitely there.
There's bound to be another little blip but anyone actually watching and not just looking at stats or reading the paper will see a noticeable improvement in form and attitude and, I don't say this lightly I promise, general well being about the place. Well, most of us have noticed it anyway.
You've had a good run, but they don't usually last forever. Not in the post-Fungus era, anyway. TIme, as always, will tell. You've a great chance of a trophy, without a doubt.
