a pen and an own goal squeezed them pas sunderland at home, but worse than that they were really poor going forwards, and even defensively too. i'll have to check out the other 3 tomorrow, but i'm starting to think we might not be a million miles away from top 3 finish this year. of course that depends on us actually turnng up for matches too. thoughts on city?
Why would you think you might be a million miles off 3rd? There are about 6 teams that can finish in any order in the top 4. Chelsea are one of those.
No I read it. But I don't see why you'd think that way in the first place? (like saying we might not be a million miles off the top half of the table)
I don't think it will have too much bearing tbh. I expect the season to be unpredictable, there is good competition and strength in depth in the league. But Chelsea won't **** up like that again. I expect 6 clubs will be competing for the top 4.
They played a really odd system. Full backs were almost holding midfielders and they kept leaving Stones and Kolarov 2 vs 2. They got away with it, just, but if they play like that against the stronger sides they'll get beat.
This is where I think Pep will struggle. Teams in the Prem are far less forgiving and mistakes will be punished. He will take a few shocks to the system before he works this out.
'thoughts on City'.....we haven't got the distraction of European Competition unlike Manchester City. As for the current Champions - Leicester City - they looked poor against Hull without Kante in their midfield. With Kante now in our midfield and with us having a managerial expert at winning Championships in Italy I'm going for...... Chelsea Manchester United Manchester City Liverpool ....finishing in that order.
....today the Red Scousers banged out Arsenal at the Emirates. Liverpool have got a good and capable manager. That's why I reckon they're good for a 4th place finish.
They were clinging on for dear life for the last 15mins. They did the same thing Arsenal did to us last season, hit a 20min purple patch and nothing else all game.
I think it will be between Chelsea, United and City tbh. The funny thing is I don't think any of them are quite ready to finish above 2nd which is why I think most of us aren't quite confident enough about our own teams. But in the end, one of them will win it. Can't say which one. And ppl need to stop underestimating Pep. I used to do it on a wum but never took it seriously. When the players click into Pep's system... and they will, I think City will be more consistent then they've ever been in the league during the last 7 years.
The way the full backs move into midfield was interesting, if you can hit diagonals into the space they leave it could cause problems but that's not an everyday pass that anyone can hit. First day doesn't tell us much, everyone will improve and at the end of the day they have 3 points. You lot might get turned over tonight.
