The anticipation in August we had Was justified after day one, And everyone, no doubt, was hoping we´d see Far more of the same sort of fun, How little did we know, at that time, in fact Where we´d be, when the year was done We were swinging too in September, with wins But not quite enough, it soon proved, Our earlier, much revered, Scottish leader Was beginning to become unloved, But just, at that moment, the powers that were Were remaining completely unmoved Optimism faded in the October winds As one too many points blew away, It all culminated down on the south coast With a quite forgettable day, And perhaps the point in this season of woe Where we knew we were destined to stay November came and left with a numbing cold Pointless, in each sense of the word, And with each blank drawn, the pressure did mount As boss and board were put to the sword, Defiant to the last though, they all stood their ground Arm in arm, and in one accord The dark of December was sparked into life But soon petered out once again, And antagonism from media and fans Was reaching unheard of heights, then, Christmas passed almost without notice too No goodwill here, towards our men Would January help rejuvenate the side Well after one game, we hoped so, But after two or three more, the signs were there The answer, a resounding, no, The call from the stands, so unrelenting now " That oaf, Alex Neil, must go " As February ploughed its forlornly furrow Frustrations were mounting apace, How could the board salvage anything from this year And at the same time save some face, Promotion had long since faded well away Even pride was barely staying in place A memorable March, it wasn´t in any way Although, thinking back now, I lie, For those wanting change, they were pleasantly surprised As one Alex Neil waved goodbye, And not only that, but a restructuring Was promised, from those up on high So, attractive April, for some augured well With the thoughts of some faces new, Webber, for one, and on the footballing front A. Irvine, A. Neil´s number two, Performances too, have improved if too late But still it amounts to too few A miserable May, whether win, lose or draw In that month´s remaining home game, For those who had wanted so very much more The year has ended up lame, But promise, perhaps, of a few better things If the new look set-up can take aim But as a believer, I´ll wait first to see If all these changes do bear fruit, For any success is so reliant upon Being able to defend and to shoot, However, great oaks don´t appear overnight So we may just need time to take root. As always sir, talented, accurate and informative. It can only be a case of wait and see, nobody knows what the Summer will bring. I shall, as ever, give the team and staff AND owners, my full support!
Should certainly be plenty of summer activity, Dave, but for once I´d prefer to see a bit more quality, even if it means we cut down on the quantity. It´ll come as no surprise I´m sure, if I say that I shall, like you, give the team, the staff and particularly the owners, my full support, too.
