    Maybe I should have put a smiley to show I was being ironic. As I have said before, being correct and pointing out someone is incorrect is not pedantry.

    It is now but it has deviated from its original meaning.

    Pointing out someone has put an incorrect date or year is not being pedantic. Pointing out someone has misspelt or used the wrong word is not pedantry.It is a standard retort of people who have been shown to be incorrect to accuse them of pedantry.

    There should be a space after the full stop and before the start of the word 'It'.
