intresting one. he came on the wing and didnt do much. we were in trouble. story goes he knocked on hortons door and asked if he could play centre forward. horton tried him and he scored enough to keep us up. dont tell anyone I told you.

At the time he was better than most of the other options! I enjoyed watching him, that said he wasnt as good as Edwards, Whitehurst and Payton in and around the same time.

Acoording to football manager he's now a coach at West Ham.

He's a bit before my time too, but I do remember seeing a clip of him scoring a goal (probably against TWS) where he seemed to just push 3 defenders over blatantly, and then kick it in the empty net.

That's from the days when forwards were allowed to tackle and referees wanted to see goals ;)

My first match was City v Bradford in November 1987. The only things I can remember about it, other than it finishing 0-0 were that we hit the crossbar in the opening few minutes and Alex Dyer playing. Off the top of my head I cannot remember noting any other player, so I like to think this was because Dyer played an amazing game and ran the show, (I was only 11 at the time though so maybe was not the best judge of performances back then).

Saw him play many times for Hull City, i was even invited into Citys dressing room when i was with my mate getting my programme signed, Charlie Palmer was there with him and i was just star struck, Alex Dyer was a great tricky player, could of done with scoring more though.

That's a blast from the past - early on in my Tigers watching days I remember Dyer being brilliant along with Charlie Palmer and Gary Parker - happy pre-pubescent days!

Ironically Clarke has just led Killie to third and a Europa League place
Noticed that his assistant, Alex Dyer, is staying at Killie.

    Yes, THAT Alex Dyer.
