Imo one of the best in the league this season. I'd sign him, but depends if Man City are willing to sell.
Personally, I wouldn't have faith in either of them being good enough to be first team players who will help us stay up or better. Neither are proven in the Premier League and have both basically only had one good season in the Championship despite being in their mid-20s. So I'd be looking at someone who has been there and don't it to be 1st choice number 10 (that is the position we are talking about here, right?) and I think we have Perez to be back up in that position who wouldn't cost us anything and is around the same standard but younger. Rafa's policy of buying proven Championship players this season worked a treat and he should continue that ethos by buying proven Premier League players rather than looking at the Championship too much, especially in key positions.
If we're looking to replace Jack Colback, yes otherwise no. I am hoping we can bring in an anchorman as I think that is the sort of player who would most complement Jonjo Shelvey.
Exactly, When I say Cairney would be good value for money I'm talking about 10-12 million at the very most. He is a low priority signing though as there are other positions that need to be sorted out first , like a striker that can score 15 goals in the PL.
If we are looking for a step up from Colback then we're looking at Obi's standard. We need to be looking at a flight of stairs up from Colback not the proverbial step up. I wouldn't not buy someone just because they aren't proven in the PL. that way no one but your super stars would ever play. Cairney looked the deal when he ran the show at St James' this season and I wouldn't be against getting him. It all depends though as to the price/package and who else is available for what we can afford. I'll leave that to Rafa to sort out and trust most, as it never will be all, of the buys work out.
Anyone watching the playoffs tonight. Mooey is the best player on the park by a mooileey. Sign him up.
As an aside if Cairney is said to be worth £25M how much in today's market at their peak would the following be worth. 1. Shearer 2. Ginola 3. Gascogne 4. Beardsley 5. Ameobi Okay maybe not Ameobi.
Bobby Robson said Shola could be a big player for this club and he wasn't wrong. Shola was 6' 3" every season he was here.
don't think City will sell him to a Prem rival, tbh I don't know why City bought him in the first place
I think I know why. He was playing for Melbourne City in Australia which has the same ownership as Manchester City. I guess they were trying to get a feeder system going. Mooy will be 27 in September so it's not like he's a new kid on the block.
I like the fact that we have been given a budget somewhere in-between 100-120m to spend this summer and we are being linked with Cairney, Mooy, Thomas Ince, David Santon, obviously andy carroll, harry Maguire, Jay Rodriquez and Wes Morgan Most of these are championship players, only half have played PL football, a couple not very much due to injury after injury. I would like to see us get some English based players in, but it's not the be all and end all. If we were able to sign another Gini Wijnaldum at £12m, then I would rather that then £20-25m on Cairney or £15m on Mooy. At the moment it all speculation anyways, Rafa know's what he's doing and he will buy players to adopt into a system and philosophy that will work for the team in the PL.
