He has apparently been heavily baced this morning. I'd be quite surprised, given the manner of his departure (but never say never). Personally, unless we appoint someone of the stature of a Hiddink or Maldini, I'd let Shakey take us through to the end of the season ... especially if there is an immediate "positive reaction" in the performance this evening (not necessarily a win - we should in fact get beat on form - but in terms of attitude and commitment - a lot more like the second half against Sevilla)
Do you mean Mancini? He's too busy ballroom dancing, apparently. please log in to view this image That's got to be up there with the weirdest reasons any manager's had for turning down a job, hasn't it?
1) Guus Hiddink would be the first choice. Proven experience at taking over talented but underperforming squads and turning them around within a short time in the Premier League. He'd make us hard to beat again. 2) Craig Shakespeare. Clearly well respected here. Would be a good face for LCFC, he says the right things. He's a superb coach and I think the players are willing to put in a shift for him. 3) After those two it starts looking more like a big risk. Don't think Pearson will want it (nor do I think he'll be approached), Mancini isn't interested (never going to be, good mates with Claudio), M'ON won't leave Ireland, managers like Wagner and Monk won't leave their clubs right now, then you get really left field with managers like Niko Kovac, Marcello Biesla and Eduardo Berrizzo all mentioned on FoxesTalk.
Hiddink transitioning into Shakespeare might be the way to go, if the caretaker's got the ability to do it in the Premier League. The Dutchman's clearly a very good manager with tons of experience and he's done it over here already. He's 70 though, so it would be a short-term appointment, for obvious reasons. Bielsa's already got a job coming up, by the way. He's taking over at Lille next season, by all accounts.
Yes Hiddink would only be till the end of the season. With Shakespeare I think this is his time. If he's not going to be appointed here then I can see another club, perhaps one in the Championship, taking him on. I think he's ready to be a manager.
He can **** off. I'm setting up the Leicester equivalent of FC United of Manchester if we sign that weapon.
