Can see it happening IF they can get round the railway line somehow. The South Stand has huge potential to go higher.

Really? Interesting to see how. Will they reroute it? The stadium could do with a big screen as well tbh.

Isn't there talk about the club buying/ leasing the land between the houses on Railway Road and the track and hoping to build over the track by, effectively, tunnelling the tracks under the new south stand...........

That was the old option - new construction tech means we can make the stand steeper and the top tier can hang over the railway line, supported against the body of the stadium. Bit like Liverpool have done with the top tier of their new stand, just on a larger scale.

Reckon it is likely to happen, particularly as we need to lose 3,000 seats to comply with new disability access legislation. The only question is likely to be access to finance - Mourinho is spending the cash reserves like a fat kid in a candy store so the club would possibly need more debt to fund an expansion.

    Naughty naughty.

Isn't it only adding 7500 seats. The BC stand won't be as big as the massive North Stand... that's like 26k or something???

7,500 to the SBC stand and 5,500 to the quads. Although that's after the stands are redesigned to meet disability requirements which will lose around 3,000 seats from the stands' current capacity.

Definitely not as big as the SAF stand - even with the new construction tech I doubt they will get to three tiers. IIRC if we made it the same size as the other stands and quads then we'd have a capacity of 96,000.
