    Manchester City have had a £44.5m bid for left-back Benjamin Mendy rejected by Monaco. The Ligue 1 side are demanding £54m for the 23-year-old.

    What did they think would happen by announcing they were paying £50m for Walker FFS <doh>

    That's the problem with paying a bit extra to get the transfer done. Sets the precedent. Once we spend £70 odd million on Keita and VVD, it sets the tone for our future dealings.

    Not really, you still can't spend above your earnings (building developments etc exempted).
    It's just that some people don't understand a players fee is spread across the period of his initial contract mega spending in one year doesn't necessarily mean you have broken FFP rules.
