we only got the one Sf and were disappointed.

 

Quality managers taking over the big clubs - big clubs got stronger - big clubs won more points against the lesser clubs.

There was an argument over the strength of the lesser clubs over recent years but I do believe it was down to the bigger clubs being weaker. Seems like normal power is restored.

 

As I said, it is all about definition and expectations. Achieving objective like 4th is the "floor" i.e minimum target set at the beginning of the season. Getting the title or winning trophies or even having a very good top team with few weaknesses is the ceiling - Great if we get it but not many will get it. So for me a successful season is a "great" season. So it will differ from one fan to the next. Sounds clear to me

 

true, at minimum Pep got the same level out of city as his predecessor did so transtion was stable. Klopp had stability and a good start, conte took only a short time to get his favoured system in and Chelsea flew after 3 bad games. Mourinho drew too many so ended 6th. poch in power a good time and built upon previous year (somewhat)

Wenger really didn't decline so much as deliver exactly what he's delivered for 4 years or more. it proved not enough finally


the most shocking thing is all th bottom teams had 80/90mil to throw about and none really improved, some even got worse. In an era where stoke are one of the richest clubs in the world it seems... well... they were so focused on 40 points they forgot to develop.

 

No one set 4th as a "minimum" pre-season though

But I re-calibrated those expectations when we went on to have the worst injury record in the league

So just say it wasn't a "great season" not that is wasn't a successful one

Didn't realise the group games were replace with a KO game format. So it's the champions KO now not league.

 

There's a play-off between Juventus and Real Madrid but you won't be interested in that since it's not the group stage

 

In the scheme of things 4th pace qualifies for 30mil of funds potentially.

A semi final gets you shag all if you lose it.

However the point is you went out early in both cups and had nothing to be enthused about

You season was over in january and your europa spot cane from others success not your own.

That has to be a let down.

I say so cos imo lfc season was a let down in january too .. but 4th gives klopp something to gee up the troops for next year.. thats about it.

Well we had both. Its just we went so well til sunderland game that it feels like a let down even though its not that bad.
