Choose your top TWO centre backs and the two players with the most votes will be our centre back partnership.

Same rules apply, 24 hours to vote.

Mensah and Evans out of that list for me - despite them being loans.

That list shows how short we've been over the years if that's the cream of the crop!!

I'm not sure if I've missed anybody out mate?

Craddock and Thome, I've gone with.

It's not the most inspiring list is it. I would probably have picked Bould but I don't recall seeing him play. I'm going to pretend John Mensah wasn't made out of fine bone china and pick him for his ability and Jonny Evans didn't put a foot wrong for us.

No one that immediately springs to mind - John O Shea is the only regular over the years I can think of but he's hardly going to get many votes I'd guess!!

    Great minds and all that.

We're going to end up with the same team.

Meh - I've got my own little clique anyway.

Nah you are one of the good guys. You've just reminded me though @The Upper Deck you are also banned from playing my game, so you can sit on the sidelines with Monty.

Steve Bould and John Mensah are without doubt the best two CBs we've had since the SoL by quite a distance imo.

Some times I'll vote with my favorite rather than the best players. but when the gulf is as big as with these two I can't ignore it.

Bloody hell.......difficult to decide. Id pick Steve Bould cos I seem to remember him being excellent in the few games that he played. But the others I'm having trouble with. Just goes to show, ten consecutive years in the premier league and i cannot pick 2 centre backs that I could be even remotely proud of. I'm gonna pick 2 centre backs not based on how well they played for Sunderland but how good they were in their peaks. Bould & Mensah!

Thinking about it. I'm pretty sure Bould played in the final season at roker and never at the stadium of light.

I was only 8/9 when Bould was at SAFC hence I don't really remember him playing for us.

Agreed on Mensah - had he not been made of glass he'd have been a Champions League quality player IMO.

    Bould did play at SOL:

    Sunderland
By now age was against Bould and he moved to newly promoted Sunderland in July 1999 for a fee of £500,000. Following the departure of skipper Kevin Ball in December 1999, manager Peter Reid made him club captain and he helped them finish seventh – just missing out on a UEFA Cup place. He stayed at the Stadium of Light until arthritis contributed to his retirement in September 2000 having played only 21 Premier League games for Sunderland.
