Could this be another one we are going to miss out on?

Although i'm not a huge zog fan, i will admit he would offer a team something, and on certain days is **** hot, on others he makes muntari look decent (and that's no mean feat).

But sometimes if you want something you have to pay for it, and that may be our downfall in the transfer market....

NEWCASTLE will offer winger Charles N’Zogbia £60,000 a week to return to St James’ Park.

And that’s bad news for Sunderland, Toon boss Alan Pardew’s main rivals, along with Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool, in the race to sign the Wigan wide man.

The Black Cats cannot match Newcastle’s salary offer for the exciting and enigmatic Frenchman as Magpies *owner Mike Ashley prepares to ditch his policy of not paying *inflated wages.

When Ashley took over at the club Newcastle had several £60,000-a-week players – plus £100,000 man Michael Owen – but now only Joey Barton, Alan Smith and Fabricio Coloccini are in this bracket.

N’Zogbia (above) had a tough time in his first stint at the Toon, including a couple of training ground punch-ups, and decided to leave when then manager Joe Kinnear called him Charles Insomnia.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce paid £6million for N’Zogbia when he was in charge at Wigan in 2009, but the big attacking talent will have no qualms about a St James’ Park return.

The size of the transfer fee, though, depends on today’s battle for Premier League survival.

If Wigan stay up they will be asking for £10m, but if they go down then People Sport understands it will drop to just £6m.

very very good player imo, if it wasn't for him Wigan would have been down ages ago. I'd take him, Diame and Mccarthy off their hands if we get the chance. Really hope they go down today, i'd never thought i'd say this but come on Stoke

he has some very good games, but also some dreadful one's, but what im saying is, that if we are going to pay big, i expect to see big game players (not distracting from the fact of zog), but for top money, i think that will go to a striker imo..

I'd imagine he'll pick 'Pool over us or Toon any day. He's just that sort of player.

What is a little bit scary is Bruce is going for his explayers. Weather he thinks they have what it takes to shoulder the expectations of the fans like he says only he knows.

If he has any ambition as a footballer (winning trophies, playing in Europe reguarly) then he should sign for a top club like Liverpool. He's certainly good enough to play for them. It would be immense for us to sign him and i really hope we do

We will not pay the reported 12mil asking price which could come down slightly (not much mind) if they are relegated. A good player but for that sort of money I'm sure there are better out there. I personally think that if the price was nearer 6mil then we could go for him not at the over inflated one they seem to be asking.

    Sorry but that's nonsense

Fact is we turn over a lot more money than you and your owners pockets are far from endless

OT: I'll be raging if we sing him. Don't rate him

I have to be honest I'm worried about Bruce going for his ex players.

He also needs to take a long hard look at the captaaincy. Catts is a committed player who gives all he's got but he couldn't Captain a rowing boat on the wear

If we pay 60k a week for N'Zogbia, then that is a ****ing travesty.

He's good, not great, he's inconsistent and he's a ****er.

Make a ****er the highest paid player at the club and see how far the rest of the lads get.

60k a week is a ****ing piss take, the Toon, and there fans who hate him, can have the ****er!

I'd have him back at Newcastle in a heartbeat, he still visits the city regularly and the reason he left was JFK being a ****.

He is a little twat like but he seems to have grown up a lot. I can't believe for one minute any Sunderland fans think they don't really need a player of his caliber, he's a total game changer and that's just in a pretty ****e team. Imagine if he had better players around him.

Very underrated, mark my words if he goes to a top team he'll be world class, I've seen enough of him to believe that. I just hope he does come to Newcastle and not Liverfool.

I don't question his ability mate, i question if he's worth 60k a week, and if his attitude is worth gambling on, and breaking the clubs wage structure for.

    That's a no for me.

I see where you're coming from, we're used to the Ashley regime now and more aware of the financial implications but we ain't gonna get top players by offering £30k pw. Even if we do they won't stick around for long, see Enrique and Carroll.

THis is true, but it's a case, IMO, of making sure when you pay top dollar you get it spot on.

As i say, talented lad, but not 'spot on' in other departments.

We would be very fortunate to have a player of N'Zogbia's calibre. Can't believe people doubt whether he's the right man for us - who can WE attract better than N'Zogbia? Once again Bruce has missed the boat with this lad, we should have signed him while we were the favorites to land him. We have NO left side and had the opportunity to sign this quality player - we've ****ed up big time if we don't get him. I believe he'd be massive for us.
