Does anyone know how he is getting on? I remember when he was injured against Spurs in November he was going to be out for 6 months and I was hopeful he would get back for the last few games of the season, obviously this never happened. I know he only signed on a one year deal when he came from Juventus last summer but heard talk a month or so ago of big Maart possibly offering him another contract.

Providing his recovery is going OK I’d like to see him at the Cottage next season. I know he is the wrong side of 30 (I think he’s 32 now) but I thought he was pretty solid early last season before his injury and he has a load of experience both at club and international level.

I think Jol said that they wouldn't renew his contract until they saw how he recovered from his injury, but they would let him keep on rehabilitating and training at the club in the meantime.

Yes, good news indeed. I liked this guy from the off and getting him back for next season will almost be like getting a new signing again.

Definitely, especially as he impressed at centre-back too.
