http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/zamora-rejects-contract-offer-from-qpr-football-3822 Bobby Zamora has rejected a contract offer from QPR. Talks are continuing with the 33-year-old striker, who was offered a one-year deal on significantly reduced wages. Zamora has struggled for fitness and form since being signed from neighbours Fulham in January 2012 and Rangers planned to release him when his contract expired this summer. But he became an unlikely hero by scoring a dramatic winner in the play-off final in May to take the club back to the Premier League. His last-minute strike against Derby at Wembley was Zamoraâs ninth goal in 52 league appearances for the Râs. Out-of-contract goalkeeper Rob Green has also been offered a new deal, while Clint Hill, Alejandro Faurlin and Armand Traore have re-signed.
Well all I can say is thanks for that wonderful moment in the 90th minute at wembley it made my day & night oh bobby Zamora that song will stay for ever.
Good news. Not in the sense that I want Zamora to leave, as I do think he could play a part next season, but it shows we are not being ripped off again. It is only right that we reduce his wage - he hasn't done enough to warrant it staying at that level, and won't do next season either. I would be pleased if he did sign, but if he wants more money then he can go.
Might sound harsh but I don't see the point in using up one of the 25 places on a man who can't play 90 minutes
Emotionally that is harsh but unfortunately, we have to be realistic and he simply doesn't play often enough to justify a better contract. To summarise, I agree with you.
He's also known for upping his game at contract renewal time and then slacking off once he gets his money. There's many player who could do the sub role, eg crouch if they want to let him leave on a free.
Thought offering a new 1 year deal was the right thing to do, now it's been rejected it should be a thanks & goodbye.
I think we should keep him. No I don't
To Bobby Z Thank you very much for giving me one of the most memorable sporting days in my life, it made the round the world trip so worthwhile and I believe you were rewarded with the unending adulation of 40,000 Queens Park Rangers supporters singing your name across the globe for the following weeks. As I am aware that you are not in agreement with the offer put to you with respect to your continued employment, I would like to take this chance to wish you the best of luck in what ever your new chosen role may be, and with the rest of your career and life. You will always have a special place in my heart and Rangers folklore, and will always be welcome back as opposing player or supporter. Thank you very much for your service and the memories. Yours respectfully Q. PS......OOOOOOHHHHH BOBBY ZAMORA..(Repeat to fade )
Don't extend the 1 year offer but do try to keep him if possible. For a top flight player who struggles with injury and is approaching the end of his career, I don't think he will warrant the same wages we paid him originally but I don't think a massively slashed wage is fair when some of the players will be brought in line with the level they're now playing at. I assume it's just negotiations and they're on-going but I'd like it if a compromise can be reached. I doubt he has that much bargaining power so, if both parties are clearly on different wavelengths, we might have to cut our losses sooner rather than later so we can try for alternative targets (but I hope not).
the odd thing is i can't really see him getting significantly more money anywhere else - not Millwall thats for sure.
As I posted earlier, he may get a 2 year deal off them for less money. He may know he's done so could do a SWP for 2 years at 10k or get 15k here and then have to retire next summer.
