He's not Pele but the reaction of a significant minority was way over the top today. Thought he played well overall.
I think Bobby is a good player, was fantastic (at times) over the course of the last two seasons. The game against Arsenal being his finest where he completely 'bossed it' so to speak. His link up play (can be) second to none. BUT, he is carrying a long term injury which is clearly hampering his mobility. Not sure why he didn't have the op last year as soon as we were relegated so he could be back for Christmas in full swing.
I thought he did ok today. He brought people into play well with some decent lay-offs and got into the right areas. Just needs a goal or two
he is devoid of confidence he knows as soon as he loses a header or a layoff goes astray the moaning will start, there was a moron sitting behind me who started from the 3rd minute and kept on till he was substituted and when young Hitchcock scored was crowing about how great he was and how bad Zamora played.
Delighted he played ok. He has become the pantomime villain and we should hope he settles down as he is capable of doing a good job at this level.
My beef is with Redknapp playing him even though hes clearly unfit, he should get the op, we get the insurance to pay his wages and bring in a replacement who could do better.
I'd agree that he was better than against Wednesday, but OK, I'm not sure about that. He has no mobility, it was rather sad to watch Austin play him in and then grimace as Zamora tried to move onto the ball. He won a few headers, but offered nothing else.
What would be your first pick front two Roller (we know that with Harold it will always be 4-4-2). Austin - AJ or Austin- Hitchcock?
I'm afraid there are a fair few such imbeciles all around the ground, sadly. How they think it helps to get on a player's back is beyond me.
Injuries aside, it would have to be Austin and Johnson. With Hoilett, O'Neil and even SWP, we have the ability to play at speed and that requires two mobile forwards, at this level I doubt we could have better than those two. Austin seems to be a real handful for any defence, Johnson is permanently on the move, Jamie Mackie with more talent if you like. On today's showing I'd have Hitchcock as first reserve, but we must remember that he is young and will have some very poor matches. Being an optimist (yes really I am) I'd be lining up Sutherland and Skepatis to come in as replacements and taking Zamora down to the glue factory.
Anybody who saw the Clarke Carlisle documentary will realise how damaging, even when deserved, this can be - and as Carlisle said at Loftus Road the players pick up on everything.
