Bristol City defender signs new contract on deadline day to end transfer threat Zak Vyner has become a key player and figure within Nigel Pearson's squad https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-defender-signs-new-8722177
Good news, deserved , his improvement over the last 18 months has been well documented. Well done Zak
'get us into the Premier league - that's the club and my ambition'. Unbelievable statement and with a few hours left of deadline day. His agent has played a blinder.
I’m suspicious this was completed a while ago, but announced by the club today to deflect from our refusal to use any of the Scott money
We were supposed to be in a 3 year plan with NP. The first 2 years were supposed to be reducing our outgoings and ensuring we stayed within FFP, the third year of Nige’s reign the plan was supposed to be to then release the purse strings to push on. Something has changed. SL needs to make a statement letting the fans know how it’s changed, and more importantly why. Not to do so IS treating the fans like idiots.
Blood hell RP, what else was he going to say, “ I hope we stay bottom half, and get no investment from the owner”…
Morning Supcon, of course not but probably more accurate. No - Vyner, if he actually said it, was going along with the spin generated by the owner and agent.
Why do we constantly go through the wringer in BS3 as we appear to be in the land of fog and vague contradictions leading us to ask who the hell can we believe? This Vyner signing seems to be too well orchestrated to be just a piece of good fortune at a time of serious discontent within the audience and I suspect our beloved benefactor and owner is behind the scenes again. Some may call it a smart piece of PR but the cynical may have other ideas but when it comes down to the truth it may well have more to do with the dictate of no more funding new players than anything acceptable to the supporters. There comes a time when I have to say I'm tired of all of the nonsense we have been force fed and unless Lansdown can step up and be counted I tend not to believe a word of what comes out of his mouth anymore. I saw some signs yesterday that we are improving but I can't say I see a squad capable of competing in a season long battle to get somewhere else towards the top of the Championship. The campaign is still young and the league table changes dramatically with a win or loss, but will we still be there in the dark days of January when suspensions and injuries can really take a toll on managerial choices, or will we fall off the radar? I still see issues in goal, along with other positions, and certainly it doesn't look as if as much attention as was necessary to strengthening our squad was heard by the people that should know better.
The unlikely Bristol City example that could serve the Robins for generations to come Zak Vyner's route to the Bristol City first-team has not been a conventional one, but that makes his presence in Nigel Pearson's side and new contract all the more important https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/unlikely-bristol-city-example-could-8728295
