Apologies for the new thread but.. What is the relevance with the Z Cars theme and SAFC. I know we played it back in the day (70s?) And so do Everton. But what is the link to SAFC? I've never seen the TV show, I will wait that. Did the bloke who wrote it come from Sunderland?
All I know is that the atmosphere at Roker started to hit up when it was played. Lads came out to it back in the day (80s and 90s too) and I loved it. Every time I hear it I think of Roker park
Don’t know who played it first but I loved it at Roker Park. When we moved to the SoL I loved Prokiev(sp) and Ready to Go . I personally would still have RTG as the run out music.
We played it in the 60/70's, it's an old Liverpool folk song called Johnny Todd so I can see Everton's connection but I don't get ours
I like it as well I just can't see any link to us. It's good, so keep playing it I reckon. I hope they keep Ready to Go as well.
And it reminds me of walking past the Mainstand and smelling the lineament coming from the changing rooms.
Same here, I love Z Cars/Johnny Todd but would prefer something that identifies with our region. Shipyards by the Lake Poets is brilliant but it's too slow for a football anthem, Wise Men Say is adopted by us and perfect for girding the loins.
It's a canny blend we have got with SAFC music tbf, paint your wagon, Elvis, Z cars, ready to go, Prokiev, the futureheads etc. Quite a few genres of music there tbh.
I think we should have Dance of the Knights to build the atmosphere and the team should come out to Fisticuffs on Frederick Street by The Toy Dolls. Actually, you could replace Prokofiev with them doing their version of Toccata in D minor!
