Patrice Evra to Andre Marriner at the game between LFC and United What a lovely man he is Can anyone please tell me how this case has got this far????????????????????
link: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...mpt-to-unravel-most-complicated-of-cases.html Now I really cant understand why they have pursued this case!!! Maybe they want to make Evra look stupid again, but all they have managed so far is to damage Suarez's reputation, i've really had it with the FA.
Well they have to be seen to be addressing it, we just have to hope they're not being seen to be making an example. All you have to do is Wikipedia the word 'Negro' to see that even during the civil rights movement in the 60s some preferred the term 'negro' and some preferred 'black'. As far as i was aware 'N*gger' was clearly considered offensive, however Negro doesn't have the same connotations. Now if a South American called me 'pale' as that was their word for white i wouldn't find it at all offensive, but then i've never been subjected to prejudice of that kind. I think how Henry Winter reports it actually makes Evra look bad which says a lot about the case as far as i'm concerned (if indeed his facts are correct).
anyone else reminded of this by Evra's comment? Is it cos i is black?!
If Evra accused the ref of being racist in the middle of the game, then surely the ref should also be investigated by the FA! Oh wait, I forgot he's a United player!
in the end calling someone a south american is being silly... so wheres the vidoe evidence either way? has the ref made a statement? nobody knows but if there is ANY finding against suarez i expect to see the ful evidence used as the basis of this case and in fact this being appeal to the court of sports arbitration to really embaress the FA.
So it was "negro" not "negrito" that was used. How sure are you guys sure that Suarez was in the right when you didn't even know what term he used up until today? In my opinion it all depends on whether anyone can corroborate Evra's claim that he used it 10 times, or atleast more than once. If as Suarez says, he only said it once it should be a warning, small fine and a suspended ban, giving him the benefit of the doubt but with the ban hanging over him if they're proven wrong and he does it again. If he did it several times then throw the book at him, there's no excuses, he knew it was winding Evra up and if you're consistently using a racist term to a black player in a game then you can't hide behind a claim of ignorance to the word's meaning.
my point is i want to see the full evidence published. simple. if one guy says don't touch me south maerican (in a derogitary sense) then the other said something back inspanish as his native language as published in the telegrapgh then really the ref should be the final arbitor. if the same guy complaing then accused the ref 2 mins later of being racist too... well we can see a pattern. at least with terry the cameras caught him. the evidence is more clear and out there.... but in this case we have no evidence anywhere. where is it what is it and why can't we see it?
Agree with this. It's about context. A few weeks ago I called my manager a c*nt and she took it amicably because of the context. I had a meeting with her only the following day and had I have called her it then... I'd currently be in the job centre. The quotes online don't help with this either way as their is no context to base it against other then that we know that there was a heated exchange between the two and that Suarez wanted to continue to play the game instead of getting in to an arguement (this is on what Mariner said about Suarez wanting to take the corner), I'm sorry but you don't insult someone racially and then just carry on to try and play the game... you'd wait for a response - you'd only go to those depths to get a response... eugh I dunno... we'll just have to wait and see
if evra said this to the referee, then he is directly accusing the referee of being racist - why has marriner not made a complaint against evra - he is accusing a referee of being racist simply by being shown a yellow card - this accusation by evra cannot be defended in any fashion and the referees association should take some action the referees regularly complain about the comments made by players and managers yet it seems that a player can accuse a referee of racism and get away with it - hopefully the referees association are just waiting for this enquiry to end before taking action - somehow i doubt it
He's French AND he's a united player. What a dire combination. He's probably gpt some Aussy blood in him as well
