1-1 @ half time. Plenty of slick attacking play from our lads, but the Newcastle defence held out until Kanu moved inside from playing wide left and scored a thunderbolt from 20 metres.
Lost 3-2 to a pragmatic Newcastle team who defended in depth and made the most of what few chances they had.
Unlucky the youngsters. Sounds like they did their best. Fair play for highlighting this match @The Penguin https://www.charltonafc.com/news/fa-youth-cup-report-charlton-2-newcastle-united-3
Disappointing that they ran out of team sheets by the time I got there. Cost-cutting I suppose, but it meant I had to keep squinting at the CL forum on my phone to get the names. We would probably have won it if our first choice CB's hadn't been unavailable through injury, or being promoted. Our poor defending meant that lots of exciting attacking play through the midfield, with Anderson prominent, counted for nothing in the end. Our no 7 has pace to burn, but ran himself into the ground in the second half, and suffered cramp.
