The past 7 seasons have seen us go without silverware, having said that, which of the following recent trophyless campaigns where you're most enjoyable, that although we failed in getting trophies, it was a season you kind of enjoyed none the less and look back on with a bit of delight. For me I'd have to start with the 07-08 season, that for me was the season when it looked like we finally had a real team again, a real Arsenal side, we were playing some of the best football we had ever seen, and we were literally quite on par with one of the strongest United teams in recent history. We only lost 3 times in the league, and ended a mere 4 points behind United. Although we failed to win anything, it was obvious we had a very very strong team that only needed a few new signings to complete the picture, but sadly we fell apart in the summer, we lost Flamini, Hleb, and Adebayor burned all bridges with the team and fans, and that really set us back in the 09 season which I don't look back on with delight. Another season I enjoyed was the 05-06 season, mainly for reaching the final of the Champions League, that was quite an experience, beating Madrid, beating Juventus, we played some great football in Europe. In the league it was satisfying getting 4th spot from Spurs right on the last day of the league, that's got to be satisfying. Other seasons like 07,09,10, and 11 I really don't look back on with delight, though we had a lot of good moments in those seasons (beating barcelona) but in general there wasn't much delight to look back on and there isn't much that stands out from them that makes me remember those seasons in a clear picture, unlike the 06 and 08 seasons.
07-08 season. We played amazing football. Fabregas,Rosicky,Hleb and Flamini linked up brilliantly. Cesc was at his creative best in the middle of the park.
07/08 was definitely the best team we had since the invincibles... I really believed we were gonna have a new era but alas... 'twas not to be. Eduardo got a life changing injury, the following season, Hleb and Flamini leaves us, Cesc becomes unsettled, Adebayor got injured for a few months and Rosicky got a long term injury... it just became destory and rebuild again.
07-08 for sure but its bitter sweet because it was also the start of our decline - things just went badly towards the end of the season, and it's only now that we seem to be coming out of it...
