With the loss tonight it brings around some discussion on the transfer window and whether we will be active, if at all. I just wanted to start by asking what you all think will be our course of action given that it is generally a free for all combined with ridiculous prices.

Will we bring in signed players or will we go the usual route of loan players until the end of the season and I would suspect that given our restrictions under the FFP we will go for option one. Your thoughts on what you would like to realistically happen and what you think might transpire.

My choice was always that we should have fixed it during the summer, but that's old hat by now, but it does make me wonder if we are up for the task

We have to be active in January, half of these players aren't good for this level, if we don't do anything in the window I honestly wouldn't know what to think, its make or break for me next month, I don't want us back in league 1

New manager and four or five players to try and rescue us.

What route will Cotts follow, low cost signings to stay in budget, loan players that cost the earth or panic buys to placate the panic brigade.?

Something that has long been on my mind is that we always get our new managers from a lower echelon of football, and although we have had success with that route isn't it about time we looked higher? I don't know whether the managerial salary is lumped in with the FFP and that limits us or whether we just aren't prepared to ante up and bring in a named manager who has had success at the level where we want to be? Steve Coppell was the only one in recent history who met those criteria and he headed for the hills in quick fashion and I believe, if we want to live whatever dream we have, we need to step up and look at some of the achievers in management.

The other alternative is to support our current manager and back him up with the tools he thinks we need to get the job done, because unless that happens I can see another SC moving on.

Yes Inver, keep behind SC and the boys and hope the right things are done in Jan, i said this a while back, we have no choice but to be patient and wait and see, we all agree we need to stay up and obviously so does EVERYONE at Bristol City.

With our history of hiring managers I think sticking with status quo is the right thing but for goodness sake support the guy in the way he wants and needs. This namby pamby approach doesn't work so it's time to step up the ante.

if the cox fiasco is anything to go by, its hard to feel confident about anything that may happen over new year.

Not sure I trust those who made such a balls up of pre season to put right a problem they have created. It may take the sale of Kodjia + £10 million to rebuild the squad
which is clearly not good enough. I expect more loan signings and a hope for the best attitude. As a club we need to be more ruthless to succeed at this level and above.
SC needs to kick this squad up the ass and stop with the they are only young jibes. I for one do not think this squad of players will get any better if they played together
for the next ten years. We clearly cannot carry on much longer with such dire results. If I was SL with the amount of money he has invested in this club I would already be lining up a manager with proven championship credentials.

Any news on why Cox is not playing? I want to support SC but I don't know whether he is getting told from above to stop whinging, or even if he believes we need strengthening, and if the latter is the case then he will live or die by the sword. Pay your money and take your choice.

I have no faith in City with their transfers, be it loan or permanent.......and just to add, I am loosing faith in Cotts slowly. I so SO want him to succeed, but just struggling to see how he is going to put it right.

Just because I don't agree with you about getting rid of Cotts it does not mean I have "blinkered eyes"
Actually 3 points from the 2 away games was something we would all have settled for
What we still don't know was who was responsible for the summer transfer debacle

Very true, however SC has not changed the way we play, his subs are strange and for Simon Cox to not even get a game very very strange.

Something wrong in my eyes, ultimately the manager is responsible.

To be honest this website and OTIB are depressing me more than the results. We lost at Derby, its not the end of the world, a lot of teams will do that this season. At the moment almost half way through the season we are out of the relegation zone so if we maintain the same level of the performance for the rest of the season we will survive, ok it will be an uncomfortable ride. Also I don’t see how people consider the transfer window to be some sort of saving grace as we couldn’t attract the players in the Summer to the footballing backwater that is Bristol. I believe that the money is there for the players but they are not coming for footballing reasons especially in Gray’s and Gayle’s cases. And yes maybe if we offered them megabucks they could have turned mercenary and come to us but do we really want players coming to us just for a paycheck? Attracting a quality Championship or Premiership player will believe prove difficult as I cant see us prising a player away who is a regular in a team playing in the top two divisions so we will be looking at taking a chance on a player who is deemed surplus to requirement at their current club and looking to resurrect a career. I also see people suggesting we should be looking at quality League 1 and 2 players and yes maybe we have a better chance of success of getting these sort of players into the club, but didn’t we do that at the start of last season and people are now saying that these players aren’t good enough at this level. Of course we could change the manager, a highly debatable issue with every man and his dog having an opinion, I personally think that Cotts should stay although saying that both Leicester and Southampton changed their managers, which was harsh in many people’s eyes but both these clubs have improved for it. So if the right manager was available then I would not be against a regime change, and in my eyes the only managers I would consider who are out of work at the moment, again highly debateable, are Nigel Pearson and David Moyes. We wont have time to get anyone in who currently has a job before the window opens so we will need to find someone who is currently out of a job.
So what I think I am trying to say albeit in a long winded way is that I believe there is no quick fix to our current plight, we need to establish ourselves as a Championship side to attract players and this will take time, again purely conjecture on my part but I believe that probably around 90% of the Championship are a more attractive proposition than us at present, hopefully we will survive this season, and I truly believe that we will, and then we can kick on. Knocking the players and the manager on a Saturday afternoon is not going to help matters and we need to get behind the team. Yes I admit I’m a happy clapper, of course if City got relegated I would be extremely disappointed, it would be embarrassing to have our brand new stadium half empty but it wouldn’t be the biblical disaster that many people are predicting. We would simply dust ourselves off and start again.

I have heard that Cox was signed with an injury that turned out to be a hairline fracture, thats why he has not been
playing. Club cant tell the truth as it would make them look stupid.

We need to get it ****ing right in January. Every signing has to be spot on and straight away get in the first team. None of this, letting them settle in **** or catching up with fitness crap. If they aren't ready to play the next game when we sign them, then stay away!

    WE NEED:

A top quality goalkeeper. Go out and spend the 2 million on Daniel Bentley. We'll get our money back on him in either performances or selling on. He's a brilliant keeper.

Sign Elliott Bennett on a permanent. Quality player and clearly head and shoulders above any other RB/RM/RW we have.

Find ready made CDM who is proven to replace Pack. Then find another one as back up as Pack is ****!

Get Matt Smith in. We can't rely on Wilbs every game. Smith is a better and younger version, won't cost us a lot and proven at this level. Plus he knows the players and club so he's ready to go.

Sign another striker, either Bradshaw or another Kodjia from france as back up as again, Agard is **** and cant cut it at this level.

Send Cox and Robinson back and bring in players on loan who are fit and championship standard.
