You've becoming more threatening, but you've lost that solid defensive play.

Should you not go back to the defensive style and just try and improve your counter attacking?

At least with that old style you got results consistently, even if most were draws.

With the likes of Johnson, Mclean and Sess, all with pace and skill, you should be trying to defend and then whipping it out quickly and play on the break.

    Just my opinion!

No, we should buy 3 new defenders (plus Rose) and go for teams.

I think we have to go for Downing, and I guess we'll move for Dawson, but we desperately need a RB.

If I were gaffer, and money was available, come end of January we would look like this (all achievable, but we won't even ****ing look at most...)

    Fletcher Whickham
    DOWNING Sess Catts Johnson
    ROSE DAWSON SAMBA FUCILE
    Mig

That could be done for approx £30million, and would be rock solid and full of threat.

Sadly, I'm not the gaffer, nor am I Ellis Short.

I know we are, big time.
Some were saying we should get rid.
    FFS!
When he is missing it's like the heart of the team is missing.

Think those voices left the building a few months back MR.

Catts is our little secret, better for us that people think he's a talentless yob, when we know he is a ****ing giant for us.

I agree about the defence mate, we have looked very poor there this season apart from Rose who certainly needs signing up.

Fucile I don't think would happen, he came to Europe from South America and now has gone back, I don't think a club like us could make him up sticks and come back.

Samba is a beast who would be absolutely fantastic for us by I bet Anzhi are paying him over 80k a week which is far to high

Dawson is like O'Shea, Brown and Cuellar that he is prone to the odd injury.

Just my opinions and I don't know who we should go for but I think we certainly need some pace and power in there

I certainly like the idea of Sess in CM were he played for the last 10mins against Chelsea, Sess is a player who will break into the box from that position and that is something which I cannot remember seeing a player doing for Sunderland in a long time, I have to say I would absolutely love us to go and get Moussa Sissikho to give us another dimension in that midfield

As for further up the pitch Downing and McGeady have been mentioned but wouldn't a player like Tom Ince be a better bet, the lad looks outstanding and will go on and be a top player and as for upfront I think Guidetti and Abdellaoue would be good additions, both offering us something completely different to what we already have and there would certainly be competition for places upfront.

As for team line up I would go 4/3/3 with the midfield 3 being Catts, Sissikho and Sess, would be outstanding, we would have the box to box beast in Sissikho, the creative player in Sess and the ball winner in Catts

I'd love Ince Poolie, but I think he's unachievable, love to be proved wrong.

Fucile is only on loan, and easily could be tempted back to Europe IMO.

Stop ****ing advertising it on here - people will read and start looking!!

Catts - Awesome - my favoourite player at the club at this minute and, as has been said, the difference between conceding and not in games - we have no-one who can replace him and, short of the top 4, I wouldn't swap him for any defensive midfielder in the country - and even then I'm not so sure!!

    Wholeheartedly agree.

Delighted on the new deal, just need Mig tied down now and all the 'jewels' are done.

Not sure if it's the style of play, just the defenders have seemingly forgotten how to defend

Tash what are Newcastle doing differently this year to last year? Why are Newcastle sinking fast? It's pretty much the same team. Whilst they did overachieve last year can you believe you relegation material so quickly?

It's easy to say we over-achieved last year because of where we are now, but people don't look at the facts.

We've had 14-15 injuries so far. Only Ba and Santon have played every game, everyone else has had injuries, and when I say this, Ba and Santon have also both come off at certain stages with knocks.

We've also had injuries to key fringe players.

Injuries have been a massive blow to our season. On top of this we've had Europe.

Confidence seems to be shot at the minute. We've had our fair share of injuries, suspensions and too many games. Probably we did over achieve last year due to Cisse scoring whenever he wanted, but we'll be OK this year when we get back to full strength.

How's the bairns footy going? Is he in the Russell Foster league?

You main players are fit though are they not? Caybeye apart? Have you changed style/formation? Etc. I don't go on your board so don't know a mag take on the mags? Fringe players should make a big a difference as what has happened?

What have your results been like after European games?
