... OK, I´m not getting ahead of myself here. I was bored at work today & I just thought to my self, what if we got promoted with 8 games to go, who would you play in your `starting XI` for the remainder of the season. (or most of the last 8 games) ? Here´s mine... Logan De laet - Was - Miquel - Schlupp King - James - Dyer Mahrez Phillips - Wood What do you think ? Just abit of fun.
A team Nigel thinks would win. Discussed this with my dad on Saturday, he'd prefer to see no changes, but i don't see the harm if, say for example, we got promoted and had 2 games left, game 1 i'd rest Morgan, DD and Nuge. Kasper De laet - Was - Moore - Konchesky Knockeart - Hammond - James - Dyer Vardy - Wood game 2 i'd rest Kasper, DeLaet, Wasil, James and Vardy. Logan Moore - Morgan - Miquel - Konchesky Knockeart - DD - King - Dyer Nugent - Wood 1 change to each area (Def/Mid/For) shouldn't effect the games too much, Dyer/Knocky and Mahrez can share duties. Koncheskys having his "break" atm. I'd hope if we were up with games left, then he would start strong lineups regardless, but i'd be more than happy with either ive just made up, as long as its not wholesale changes, like all 7 benchers and GTF coming in at once.
I think it depends on whether we are in a position to influence either promotion or relegation ... I suspect Nige will feel 'honour bound' to play his 'first team' injuries aside ... however if we are playing someone comfortably mid table etc, I wouldn't mind betting that he might even blood a couple of development squad players - like he did with Panayiatou at Leeds a couple of years back ...
I do wonder a bit about the guys who aren't getting a lot of game time- Wood, King, Hammond, Miquel, Schlupp and what it's doing for their morale. It seems strange that we suddenly have that strength in depth.
Play your strongest until the very end The only reason for lack of rotation is because of the form of the team
true, but if we bring in wood, king, miquel, hammond, schluup for anyone im not sure anyone could argue that it wasnt a weakened team - its only if we made wholesale changes with players that were clearly not as good.
In all seriousness what are we resting the players for if we get promoted with x games remaining? Should have them out there playing for a Premiership place.
`Rest´ is a word I wouldn´t use to describe it, it´s more a chance to give some of the fringe players a game. Maybe not change all the starting XI but certainly chop & change each game.
