1st half ------------------------------------ Rascubadiver --Connolly-------------Kisnorbo------------Lees--------------White --Snodgrass--------------------- Clayton---------------------Gradel -------------------------------Nunez ------------------------Somma---------McCormack * Defence lacks that bit of quality * Midfield weak, but littered with talent (Snoddy, Gradel) * Strikers look good, our best 2 strikers in terms of scoring goals, Nunez, Gradel and Snodgrass will obviously provide great service to go with it 2nd Half --------------------------------------Cairns --Connolly----------O Brien------------Kisnorbo------------Parker --Snodgrass------------Howson--------Clayton-------------Sam ----------------------Becchio-------------Paynter * Defence looks more like a first team selection, still needs improving tho * Midfield is similar in terms of quality, Sam is consistent. * Strikers are both work horses and physical players, different style wen compared to the first half strikers that are about finishing
Depends if we bring anyone in. It would be stupid to play Somma and McCormack together then Becchio and Paynter. If we're going to play 4-4-2 (which I don't think we should) then Becchio + Somma and Paynter +McCormack is the way to go. Clearly your "diploma" in football management didn't teach you very much.
I'd start Lees and Clayton in all the games, get them involved early and let them build their confidence. I'm hoping both will step up to the plate this season. Still struggling to see Somma starting, I think he'll always remain a late impact sub, there's just something missing in his all round game.
I would say Lees and Clayton need to be given lots of game time as they could step up this season. White aswell. I think we will give Bessone another chance and I think we should.
Hows does your logic make sense Simon? I can see your diploma in posting b****s is a recent accolade of yours. Somma is an all rounder, McCormack relies on speed, Somma and RM is like Berbatov and Rooney??? that seems to work u moron. Becchio and PAynter are the poorer of the two strikers so they can battle it out for 3rd choice
Somma an all rounder!!! He's a super-sub, he has literally no aptitude for holding the ball and is a good finisher. My logic makes sense because you should always, if you play 4-4-2, which we shouldn't, play 2 different kinds of strikers who compliment and play off each other. Somma and McCormack wouldn't do that and neither would Becchio and Paynter. While I'm at it playing a midfield of Clayton, Nunez, Gradel and Snodgrass would leave us horribly exposed at the back, our biggest problem last season. Of course to people like you (i.e. people with no tactical nouse whatsoever) good finishers look like the best players in the world and you can only think of formations where we play all the most attacking players with no thought for shape or balance.
Yeah so will Bessone and others coming back from loan who have yet to be sold although their names escape me!!! We have to make sure everyone gets games but I think we will start against the Saint with something like: Stockdale Connolly Kissa OBrien New Left Back Brown New CM (Smudge?) Snodgrass Howson Gradel Beccio Bench: McCormack, Sam, Clayton, Bruce, Parker, White, New Striker, Nunez.
1st Half: Rachubka Connolly Kisnorbo Lees Beesone Snodgrass Brown Howson Sam Becchio McCormack 2nd Half Rachubka Connolly O'Brien Bruce Parker Gradel Clayton Nunez White Somma Paynter I don't think the Leeds squad needs many more additions other than a GK (Stockdale by the looks of things) and maybe another central midfielder. Don't think we will get a left back as Parker, White and Bessone can all play there and I think Grayson is looking into bringing Lichaj back!! More than happy with the strikers/wingers though!! Also I would like to see Kisnorbo and Lees given a chance before getting any more central defenders in!! On paper our centre backs are "good enough" but on the pitch it's a different story!! Kissa's leadership could be what was missing after all, we all saw the difference when Naylor returned to the side and with a DM and new goalie we could see a much tighter defence with the defenders that we already have!! Happy for anyone to disagree/tell me I have picked the wrong players/formation etc apart from Clive Time lol
rachubbyka PC kissa lees parker snod brown howson sam becchio rossMc other GK (stockdale/cairns) PC obrien bruce bessone gradel clayton nunez white somma paynter
Darren: I think Stockdale, Lichaj and a replacement for Killa would round off the side perfectly and would add up to those 4 players Uncle Ken was talking about. I'm hoping Clayton can step up as Johnson's replacement and Kissa's leadership + the protection of Brown in front will give our CBs renewed confidence. As you said Bruce, Bromby, AOB, Kissa and Lees is a great set of CBs on paper, lets just hope they can gel this season!
i'd be pretty happy ith darren's suggestion for the falkirk game, it will be interesting to see what defensive pairing SG uses for the saints game tho
