Right this isn't about professional football, its about what you have done which stands out in your sporting 'career'. Mine either has to be: Scoring a perfect hatrick from centre back, right foot, left foot and then a header, this all happened in about 15mins! or Semi-Final of the cup, drawing 2-2 and we get a penalty and as captain i barged the striker out of the way and took responsiblility for it only for the keeper to save it! but lucky for me it bounced straight back and i managed to smash it back in the corner i originally went for! We lost the final 4-1.
Most of my sporting stuff was done at school as after school I didn't do much outside of playing sunday league I remember about 7 years ago twisting my knee after a collision so I went in goal for a few weeks until I could run again (our keeper preferred playing in midfield so it was win win) and spending that time in the form of my life (I'm only 5 foot 8). I remember playing aganst a side at Essex Uni and thwarting their hulking great striker with some superb diving saves. I remember at school being pushed in to doing cricket and in training bowling out our opening batsman for a duck. Both my PE teacher and I were like WTF?! as the bowl was absolutley top drawer, unfortunatley it didn't happen again and it was widley seen as a fluke I played football for the Tesco store I used to work for and we played a store based in Braintree who's side was littered with Braintree Town players (The Braintree Town that are not in the Conference national) and we smashed them 7-1. I played centre back, scored from a corner and had their strikers in my pocket. Our team (Tesco Highwoods) were easily the best Supermarket based football team in essex EDIT - My best mate had trials with Chelsea (He was also a first team regular with Tiptree United) and my brother had trials with Crystal Palace so I'm gonna ride their coat tails when it comes to proper sports accomplishments
i wouldn't worry about it! i play cricket through the summer and any wicket i take i generally regard as a fluke!
A bunch of swimming medals and green belt 3rd mon in judo. Also did trampoline as part of my Duke of Edinburgh award.
Becoming captain of the firsts in squash and getting brown belt in karate. I was always **** at team sports like footie though, it pains me to say
Bozz any chance of getting this idiot banned? He doesn't offend me its more he annoys me with all his lyrics!
Wouldn't it get incredibly tedious copying and pasting lyrics into select threads? He's posted 170 in about a week, so nearly 25 a day! What's the point?
Started a cup game at Left back and we were losing 4-1 at 1/2 time. Manager switched me to striker and I scored a hatrick. Lost in extra time though.
not exactly a sporting achievement but Bobby Charlton broke up a fight I was having when I was 9! "you can kick **** out of eachother, but not in front of my lads" he said (he was coaching on the field at the time)
In terms of just a sporting comeback, when I was playing in the PDL (semi-pro) a few years back in Vermont, we were losing to Rhode Island 3-0 at half. I came on with a host of others to change things up and then went down 4-0. With 20 minutes remaining we pulled 1 back, then another, 4-2, then a pk for the 3rd I believe 4-3, a set piece with about a minute to go to tie it 4-4! In the dying moments of the game, a quick counter attack led to a 1v1 with the keeper which our attacking mid slotted away cool as can be. 5-4 comeback with 20 minutes left in the game. I have a small inkling of how Istanbul felt! Other personal achievements are making NCAA div II Final Four and Final ( lost in the lost minute, never felt more sick in my life). USL combines here, a few trials that never worked out, but the experience of it all. http://www.uslsoccer.com/stats/2008/657364.html The link is not the full line-ups or stats from the game for some reason the historical messes things up.
Playing in the Staff v 2nds end of term match. 2-1 down with 10 mins to go. We got a corner. I ran into the box as the ball came over, tripped, the ball hit my head and flew in. I'm told it looked great but i knew the truth! Recently. Helping a mate deliver a new 50m catamaran from Bordeaux to Fort lauderdale. In Biscay we got hit by a force 9-10 storm and were sufing down 35ft waves at over 25 knots - fastest I've ever been on a sailing boat.
My greatest achievement in football has to be getting my boots on the right feet. Tbh I did score two goals in one game once but they too were regarded as flukes by everyone, including me. I wasn't bad at squash, table tennis and badminton, actually won a regional league trophy for the latter. Now all that's left to me is solo tiddlywinks.
I was in my P.E lesson and we were doing football. I was put in the worst group with the people who were not very good at football or just didn't like football. (To be fair, I wasn't very good at football!) Was in goal for a bit and pulled off a crackin double save. Dived to the right to stop a one-on-one and the ball hit my hand and bounced up. The ball bounced to the striker and he side-footed it towards the left-hand side of the goal. I threw myself up and dived towards the left... Tipped it past the post. I was pretty happy with myself. Even my P.E teacher was quite happy with me! We won the game 1-0.
Doing a night Orienteering event and absolutely nailing it, and being at the finish line before any of the officials, and a good 20 minutes before anyone else.
I was once last man home in a five mile walk,I won a trophy for it,I did have competition as there was others that wanted the the trophy, and they tried to get me to go past them by stopping every so often.
