I have a lot of time for Paul Heaton,he's the quintessential English songwriter which they do so well and he's from Hull
He's not from Hull, and he's a complete tool. I do like the Housemartins though. Me and the Farmer is their best song
Mindyfail but he did live there for a while hence London 0 Hull 4 London 0 Hull 4 is a 1986 album by The Housemartins. It was their first album and contains the singles "Flag Day" (#124 in the UK), "Sheep" (#54 in the UK), "Happy Hour" (#3 in the UK) and "Think for a Minute" (#18 in the UK). The title refers to the band's home town of Kingston upon Hull and is in the format of a sports result. It also refers to Paul Heaton's assertion that the Housemartins were only the fourth best band in Hull. In other words, Hull had four great bands, compared to none from London. The liner notes and lyrics reflect singer Paul Heaton's interest at that time in Christianity and Marxism. For example, the back cover of the album contains the message, "Take Jesus - Take Marx - Take Hope". In 1992, the album was re-released on CD and featured four additional tracks, along with the front cover phrase, "16 songs - 17 hits!" The album was re-released again on 22 June 2009, as London 0 Hull 4 Deluxe, containing a second CD of bonus tracks, B-sides and live recordings.[
Underneath his house is a huge vault full of football memorabilia. Apparently the collection is worth in excess of a million squid. He, like me, is afflicted with OCD, so everything is labelled and placed in its own allotted place. Interesting fact, eh?
Yeah and as I said have a lot of time for the man,he led a interesting life.As for the OCD thing, there's a bit of that in everyone sure small but significant my vinyl and CDs are all in alphabetical order!
PD Heaton is from Sheffield, I think. Hull was his adopted home town, he now lives in Manchester. The multi-millionaire songster is friends with the self-confessed communist, Tenfoot Tiger, who posts on City Independent. I can remember Paul and Stan busking in Hull's market place a few years before The Housmartins took off. Fav song...Sheep.

There was a piece about Heaton and Jacqui Abbott in the paper today. Like a fine wine, she gets better with age. She's still **** hot even now.
He's got a pub in Salford, The Kings Arms. Cracking boozer. Prefer The Beautiful South myself though.
