My three favourites would be: West Brom - his first goal and the reminder of the torrid time Kaca gave them in the first half. Arsenal - I can't believe we actually had a corner that beat the first man! Stoke - this is the winner, because that finish was fantastic and there are not many players in the world who could do that. Interesting fact: For 14 of Berbatov's league goals last season either Kaca or Dejagah were on the pitch. Of those, four came with them both on the pitch. For perspective, Kaca and Dejagah only appeared on the pitch at the same time 5 times all season.
Stoke for me, classic Berbatov; waits for the ball to come down, makes a perfect connection, with perfect accuracy. You knew he meant to do it, and he didn't even break a sweat.
Yes Bidders, but I think that goal was "easy" for him. I agree with Surly that the Dejagah/Kaca type TEAM goals were the best. They also emphasise what so is often not understood - that Dimitar is a true team player - he really does appreciate the contribution of others (and gives them a bollocking when they get it wrong).
Ah, the topic was for favourite Berbatov goal, which is why I went for a Berbatov goal! I think we all appreciate team goals more
As an adjunct to that, I'd give full marks to Berba for the way he encourages/directs the younger players. Can't remember the actual game, but it was the first one he and Kaca palyed together at the Cottage (possibly the West Brom one - help silky?) and he was tremendous; clapping and smiling at Kaca's play. His 'bollocking tends to be with the more senior players and undoubtedly Siddders and Hugo.
Absolutely, C58. Firstly it was West Brom; we won 3-0 with Kacaniklic setting up Berbatov and then winning the penalty. Secondly, Berbatov seems to really encourage players like Kaca and Dejagah - it is the likes of Sidwell and Ruiz that get the other side of him.
What do you think he would be like as a Captain? Brede has never struck me as ideal captain material - just not demonstrative enough for me. But Berbs has got what it takes I think. Encouraging the younger players and keeping the older ones in line with a well chosen kick up the backside as necessary. Wouldn't upset me if he was given the Captaincy.
Talking about favourite goals how's this for a penalty from luis boa morte. http://m.101greatgoals.com/blog/luis-boa-morte-scores-one-of-the-greatest-penalties-ever-in-luis-figo-charity-game/
- might be worth embedding this under the poll. For the QPR pen its like Cesar just opens that whole side of the goal up to him before he's hit it.
