As the season draws towards a close (I can't wait actually) I just wondered what everybody's thoughts were on NUFC player of the year. Who would get your vote. After such a great start, there could have been a few nominations, but after the last 4 months of tripe, I'm really struggling.

Cabaye was well on course, but he was only here for half a season. That said, I'm almost inclined to say he did enough in that half to still warrant getting my vote.

Remy has been invaluable - even though he isn't actually our player. Him being missing too for those games has been very telling indeed.

Beyond that, I'm struggling. So for me it's either a half-a-season wonder, or a loan player?

Others who deserve a mention? Debuchy maybe? I'd also nominate Willo for the James Perch 'most improved player' award. It's clear we desperately missed Colo and when he returned we immediately looked more confident at the back. And maybe a special mention to Tiote for getting back to previous form and to Anita for making the position his own after a period of being a utility man on the bench. But do any of these players deserve 'player of the Year' as far as you are concerned?

    Who would you go for?

I find it easier nominating for the following:

    - Most injured
    - Most weight gained
    - Most frustrating player
    - Most off-side player
    - Biggest loss of confidence
    - Biggest disappointment
    - Biggest waste of squad space

What would your 'special awards' be?

We certainly didn't have anybody worthy of a special award for what they did on the pitch.

I'll stick my neck out and say in the first half of the season I thought Debuchy was slightly better than Cabaye and that although his form has dipped since his mate left, he hasn't plumbed the depths of most of his team-mates. He hasn't exactly had to cover himself with glory to be better than the rest, but I think he's been one of the very few bright spots. Just a shame he probably won't be here next season.

So my nomination for player of the year is ...........<drum roll>..........Mathieu Debuchy.

Some good ones in there. <ok> Just a pity they are genuine comments and not jokes.

If Cabaye had stayed he'd be miles ahead of anybody else for player of the Season/Year.

As things are at the moment we've got 14 of the squad unavailable.

Speaks volumes for what's going on behind the scenes.

    14? Wow, really? Who?

I know about Santon, Cisse, Raylor, Obertan (been out but back in training I think), De Jong (?), Ben Arfa (AWOL?), Sissoko (back in training).

Ah, OK. Didn't realise you meant loan deals. If needed, we could probably recall those lads, but for one they probably wouldn't get a game and two, they need the loan experience anyway.

Hopefully Sissoko will be back in time. What's wrong with Sammy? (in terms of his availability rather than ability)

This is like picking the least smelliest poo! I'd say Debuchy has been our best player this season...

I'd have no qualms with Debuchy getting the best player award, he always puts a good shift in and you can see he cares.

He hasn't been the same since he got sent off. He was brilliant before then. Probably Remy, and he doesn't want to be here.........

God I hate this season. Sod Ashley and his cohorts.

Could only vote Remy. Without him we'd be on our way down.

You'd think the powers that be would have done something to make his move permanent, we'd be in a hell of a position without his goals.

Debuchy comfortably for me. His mucker Cabaye would have run him close I can't pick a player who has only played half the season (you could argue they all have). Really like Debuchy. I do like a player who shows a bit of mental fortitude. The way he overcame last season and this seasons early troubles really impressed me. He has plenty of quality, boundless energy and he is well suited to the game here. He gets stuck in and always gives 100%. A few of his teammates could learn a thing or two from him. Tiote would be runner up as he has had a really good season.

    - Most injured - Raylor
    - Most weight gained - HBA
    - Most frustrating player - tempted to say HBA but in actual fact, I don't think he is all that. Maybe Sissoko, if he could just get himself a bit more up for it, there appears to be no end of talent there
    - Most off-side player - Remy (but we don't mind because its with purpose) Cisse (we do mind because its without purpose)
    - Biggest loss of confidence - Cisse - Broken forever. I don't think he is by any stretch top class he's not as bad as he looks. Needs a move.
    - Biggest disappointment - Mbiwa - Looks a massive waste of money sadly. Can't pass, can't read the game, terrible in the air, and seems particularly thick.
    - Biggest waste of squad space - HBA probably because of the wage he's on. We could get a much better player or two from those kind of wages.

    Special Awards

Pards - He gets 3 awards.
Most willing to be beasted off Mike
Best at losing the plot under pressure
Worst at turning around a bad run of form

Most overrated by our fans - HBA
Most stagnated - Krul (maybe even deteriorated)
    Most deadly - Remy
Biggest drop off in form - Gouffran
    Biggest pussy - Santon

Most worrying is I can't think of a nominee for young player - Haidara and Dummett look limited. Bigi has disappeared. Sammy is not very good. Armstrong still an unknown. Rest are on loan. Sad times.
