There's been a lot of talk about our new signings being good/bad/indifferent compared to your "quality" signings and, frankly, we're all pretty bored with it. But if you're happy with your first XI, how do you feel about your back-ups? I don't know much about Cabaye et al, but you've got a fistful of the bin-dipper's money for Carroll and you don't seem to be spending much of it.

Still plenty of time before the window shhuts, but with the injury problems that we both had last season I'd have thought that buying players you might regard as back-ups was pretty important and you don't seem to be doing it yet. If any of the players that have been mooted as leaving actually go, and here I'm thinking about Enrique, Barton and Jonas you might find yourselves short with not much time to put things right.

Barton + Jonas look set to stay another season.

Neil Taylor will be back up left back if Swansea get bored of playing silly buggers and he actually comes, not too sure about first team yet.

Then we'll have Gosling coming back for the bench + squad rotation. So not too worried. Gonna have a good bench for a change it seems :)

Can't see Gutierrez or Barton leaving.

    Harper/Forster
    Gosling
    Williamson
    Naylor
    Jonas
    Best
    Shola

It will look something like that imo. The window officially opens in an hour and a half. I am confident of getting two brilliant signings.

Nobody is as bored of it as I am. It comes as no great surprise that a lot of Sunderland fans think Newcastle's players are **** and vice versa. If it had been the other way on, there'd be Mackems saying how **** Wickham is compared to Cabaye and Toon fans saying how **** Ben Arfa is compared to Craig Gardner. It's a fact of life.

We're after Neil Taylor to cover left back, a problem for years and after another striker as well.

At the moment I'd say our bench is: Krul/Harper, Williamson, Kadar/R. Taylor, Guthrie, Gosling, Marveaux, Shola

I think you should be more worried about yourselves Sid, especially after your injury record last year <ok>.

  10. Our first 11 -

    -----------------Krul-----------------

    Simmo--Taylor--------Coloccini--Enrique

    -----Cabaye-----------Tiote---------

    Barton--------Ben Arfa--------Marvauex/Jonas

    ------------New striker/Ba-------------

    Subs:

    Harper
    New striker/Ba
    Jonas/Marvauex
    Best
    Gosling
    Williamson
    Naylor

    <ok>

    Additional players -

    Raylor
    Guthrie
    Ferguson
    Lover
    Shola
    Kadar

I think another midfielder wouldn't go a miss but i reckon we should get another 2 strikers now.

    ?

I have seen quite a few of them. Lovenkrands is a trier, but Ranger, Amoebi (I know, I know) and Best aren't out of the top drawer. Ba is very decent if he stays injury free, but midfield is the only area I'd say you were strong in.

Defensive wise we are not bad at all, if Enrique stays then brilliant. Coloccini was brilliant last season, and Taylor is solid. I think we need a better right back, and another striker. We are fine with midfield but would like N'Zog back.

It is early days too remember. The window doesn't actually open until tomorrow, and there's a further two months after that. If it was the 31st of August now, I'd be worried. But as of yet, I'm going to have a bit of faith in Pardew and see what else he plans to bring in.

  16. Best got 6 goals in 10 games mate. He's a good striker, and much better than Ameobi and Loverman.

I hope we don't sell him.

Our midfield is strong, we desperately need to sign another two strikers, because if a couple of our new strikers get injuries, then we're back to the same **** as last season.

Also we have better defenders than you. Saylor, Colo and Enrique are better than any of yours <ok>

Best is not a good striker. Not at all. I can't agree. I personally think he is ****ing **** and should sit on the bench and wait to be called on. We need two strikers of great quality, I will not be happy if we have to rely on Best.

Doubt all 3 of those will leave this summer. Are injury problems were massive last year. To be honest i think it was a one off and we wont have the same problems this year
