    Me Me ME!!

Right serious stuff this ... Not so long ago there was this quick burst of activity from the club.

One of the things mentioned was a bar/facility/shack/fridge outside the Eastend.

The club were looking into it. Now? Dunno!

This is still in hand. We are in the process of applying for the relevant licences for that part of the ground, and aim to trial this at two home games before the end of the season.

The clubs website is as good as the atmosphere from the local natives saturday, but there could be a list of projects on the site, current status and outcome e.g 1/ Eastend natchcorner - Now brown bread 2/ Ashton Gate re-devolopment consultation pow wow WE HAVE TO DO BETTER THAN THE MADE IN HONGKONG BOWL OVER THE SEVERN starts Feb [??] First meeting between the Fans Parliament working party and the architect this Thursday.

My number one request will be better and more exits from the Dolman stand. If we don't all have to queue down the stairs to get out I am sure people will stay till the end of the game.?

This is planned for the revamp of the Dolman if it goes ahead. There will be a proper series of entries/exits in the centre of the stand.

Some decent supporters bars around the place with REASONABLE PRICED DRINKS TOO!!! All drinks at £3 a pint until the end of the season. That’s a 60p reduction.

how about letting non season ticket holders into the DEH for the rest of the season for a cuppa/Pint and some banter................ ?

That is currently reserved for ST holders only as we just don’t have enough concourse space for everyone. A redesigned Ashton Gate (or a new Ashton Vale) will be designed so that all supporters will be able to leave their seat at half time, get something to eat and a drink, visit the toilet and still be back in time for the second half.

My suggestion concerns something that could be done in the programme next season:

A charity football bet in the programme for each home game.
A different player from the squad predicts the result of 3 football games that weekend/night - a bet of £10 (treble) is placed on these results, and any returns are donated to charity.
In the programme article the player could say why he predicted that outcome.
The charity could be one nominated by the player that week, or accumulate so that 1 or 2 charities get the total at the end of the season - maybe the fans could vote on what the charity could be.
24 home league games - would cost the club £240.
Might be able to persuade the player to match the bet.
Might be able to persuade a bookmaker to sponsor it as well. ?

There are, quite rightly, all sort of regulations that govern footballers betting on the outcome of matches, and it’s an area that we wouldn’t want to get into to be honest. For those desperate to throw their hard-earned cash away, we do run a feature called Pez’s picks on the website each week, where our intrepid media guy Mark Perrow, working in association with Bet Butler, tries to predict the result of a few games.

Getting the premier seating people back in their seats by the end of halftime not upto 15 minutes after blocking peoples view ?

They are made aware that the game has restarted. The same might also apply to those returning late to the Dolman stand

Close in the gaping holes between the Atyeo and Dolman, and Atyeo and Williams Stands and try and keep the noise inside the ground.

Remove the roof of the Atyeo stand as it's totally at the wrong angle the way it slopes up. The reason that the atmosphere in the East End is so much better than anywhere else (IMHO) in the stadium is due to the design of the roof there. Yes it looks old fashioned and I'm not suggesting it gets copied, but it works ?

This may not be a popular view, but from my vantage point on the half way line, the noise coming out of the Atyeo stand when it’s in full flow actually sounds much louder than the Wedlock stand. I mean this as no disrespect to fans in the EE who clearly make loads of noise, but because of the design of the roof, most of that noise is kept inside the stand. So those inside the EE might enjoy the atmosphere, but it doesn’t necessarily all communicate outwards onto the pitch. The roof of the Atyeo is better at channelling that noise outwards, and any new stands will also be designed with that in mind.

I would go along with the exits in the Dolman, people leaving early results in me not getting to see the last 5 minutes of the game due to people in the way.
Not shutting the gates would be a bonus as they create a blockage and people walking away slowly. If these gates were just left open people can carry on walking out rather than trying to get out through the 2 exits on either side.

The problem with that is that people then congregate at the bottom of the steps, blocking the view of those at the front of the lower tier in the Dolman. It’s a poorly designed stand, and the sooner we can give you all better facilities the better.?

People do this anyway! the middle tier of the Dolman suffer instead. At least at the bottom of the Dolman there is space to walk in to and it is easier to get a view of the game from there with a little bit of a height advantage, opening the gates (or not shutting them!) would create easier dispersal over a longer period of time. As we will not be getting a new Dolman very soon surely this could be tested as it must be very frustrating for the middle tier sitters who have no option but to stand up! and still cant see as they are at the same level!

With regard the £3 pint until the end of the season, this is welcome and thanks to the board for listening, but We really need this to be a bit more long term and an increase in choice would be welcome too, A couple of beers and ciders on draught is surely not too much to ask, i really think the club is missing a trick here, Lindleys must be coining it in, surely this income stream would be better organised 'in house' and certainly more profitable?

David, thank you for your replies. even if these points will have been previously raised and discussed it's still nice to put your own personal input and thoughts on these things.

Have to say that since the first set of comments on OTIB, all of the crew on the turnstiles have been really friendly and attentive so they have clearly been briefed. Nice to be greeted so a thumbs up in this respect...

Have to say I agree with DL's comments regarding the acoustic's in the EE. In there I suspect it is load because it keeps the sound in there. But from where I sit in the Dolman and when I sat in the Williams the Atyeo does sound louder as the sound travels out into the stadium.

    The East End,

I could tell you some stories about standing on the the East End in the early 80s, that was when it really was loud and no PC bollocks. <laugh>

i agree that people leaving the Dolman early ( for what ever reason) is a pain and they do block all of us who stay to the end. But i think if people leave early they should somehow be made to leave the stadium immediately and not stand along the bottom at pitch level!! i'm not sure how this can be done in a suitably curteous way, but someone must have an idea.
Many years ago when i was a dapper i used to stand in the EE, and although it sounds great and loud in the EE its not quite the same in the rest of the stadium, thats why when teams play in other grounds they moan about each others fans support being rubbish, but 9 times out of 10 its down to size, build and age of the stadia concerned most of the time, obviously crowd size also affects.

Put in a travelator and escalators that keep the bastard's moving instead of blocking my views. And I agree with you regarding the EE when your in it it sounds really loud but where I sit I very rarely hear them. Most grounds you go to who have a loud section are grounds with large stands like Liverpool Sheff and Weds Tottenham etc then you can hear them. If you put the ones that like singing in the Atyeo then the stadium would generate more noise onto the pitch. In the Eastend the roof traps the sound to only that stand.
