Harry said that the only reason that he had three of the youth team players on the bench on Saturday was that there was no one else. Of course one them of, Hitchcock cam on and scored the vital winner. OK, a granny could have knocked it in but he showed great awareness to follow Austin's shot in case the keeper didn't hold it, an awareness that so many of our so called experienced players seem to be lacking. He said that the reason that we didn't go for Zapata was the lack of experience at the Championship. He has experience in the Argentine top division and scoring goals is the same anywhere. He admits that the player has a big future and he may look at him in the future, probably when he is worth three times as much as now. We already have Zamora and Johnson, how much more experience up front do we need. We need another raw emerging talent like Austin rather than a has been like Defoe. A good team is a mixture of youth and experience yet Harry seems to want experienced throughout. Does he not realise that having a team full of seasoned experienced players is what got us into this mess in the first place. Yes, we need a couple more experienced players here and there, Parker would be a great signing, but more of the youngsters need to be given a chance.
in recent years our record of bringing players through the ranks is abysmal. we now have a glut of talent at underage level in the likes of Hitchcock , Harriman, Sutherland and a few more . I fear though they'll up leaving like so many others and we'll end up with a load more what ifs.
