Listening to SOD saying we have a young team and actually looking at the starting 11, Take Elliott out and our oldest player was only 25! Didn't really realise how young our squad is. Makes me think that todays result at MK Dons who are one of league 1's best was actually a good one. Fielding 25 Moloney 24 Flint 23 Williams 21 Cunningham 22 Wagstaff 23 Elliott 28 Reid 20 Bryan 19 JET 22 Baldock 24 Making todays average age 22! Patience is defiantly a virtue with these players. A win is just around the corner and I feel once we get it a nice little run will be on the cards. Hopefully this will start with Palace on Tuesday night
I think when Carey back from injury he can help get the defence jelling in training so they can then use it in the matches
Might be worth chucking Carey in now. Our team lack age and experience. Perhaps carey might steady the ship
I doubt a 36 year old who's been passed it for years will able to stop the goals going in Although saying that he'd be the first in the team against the pikeys
Just saying, at the moment he could be a better option to Williams then if the form picks up introduce Williams into a winning team. Will benefit him greatly. All ifs and buts though......
Shiny if you want to change a player in the team try your mate Elliot, where all their goals came straight down the middle with marv nowhere to be seen
Also I'm still not sure on our fullbacks, I know some think Cunninghams the second coming to Christ but look at wolves 2nd goal, who was beaten at the back post for that goal to loop in?? Glad sods buying 2 more fullbacks, we need them
We need stability and let the kids form their own partnerships. Changing Williams for Carey is stupid ones a left sided the others right sided.
Like I predicted, a slow start to the season, which will gain momentum around Christmas and end the season in a play off spot. I cant see us getting it this time around, but I reckon we will romp away with the league next season as our youngsters grow individually and as a team
So did the fella from Derby, and what a clutz he turned out to be. I think Cunningham and Maloney are among the best full backs i've seen at AG, and maybe we should cut them some slack, especially when you consider what a horse's ass the centre of our defence has made of things over the past few years.
I do like Cunningham - when he has the ball he's very good - but to play devil's advocate here, is he that good defensively??
Maloney reminds me of a typical lower league fullback, not exactly quick, doesn't bomb forward and is fairly solid defensively.. and that's about it Cunningham I've been disappointed with, seems to be constantly out of position.. beaten on the turn and letting wingers put the cross in.. considering he's meant to be one of our best players and a league above he's been poor
I think there is a little bit more to the getting of two new full backs both of these players are happy as wing backs as well, S O'D looking for a plan 'C' as we already have an 'A' 'B' just we started the season with them the wrong way round.
I find it weird that we are almost in September and don't know what our best XI is. The squad changes every week. SOD said himself when he first took over that we needed to keep a consistent starting 11. Mainly the midfield that is changed. Would be great if Kelly made a overnight recovery.
