Wonder how much we sign these young kids for? CJM and Aimson out on loan, are we just signing loads of em hoping one of them make the leap?
I think the League are having a review of homegrown players, maybe that's got summat to do with these signings.
Probably peanuts initially, at least in our eyes. The initial fee will probably guarantee the future of a club like we pinch these non leaguers from for a year or two. There will almost certainly be clauses where, if they are triggered, they will also be peanuts to us. Even if none of them make it they're still doing their bit by increasing the overall quality of the development set up. It's win win really.
Paying to bring in a whole team of youngsters with potential is totally worth it ,if playing alongside them helps to a develop a player who goes on to either feature for the first team or goes on to be sold even if the players we bring in don't make it. Improving the team will only improve the quality.
I like that we scour the non league looking for young players for our youth. I think Ter Horst was reported to have cost us circa 20k
Might not seem a lot to pay but seen Ter Horst a few times now and he looks a long way off ever making it. When even the U21 crowd are on your back, it's never a good sign. Actually felt sorry for him the other night with the groans near me every time he got the ball... is very lightweight, weak and makes poor decisions. On the plus side, he's quite nippy.
There are plenty of Hull kids produced. Often without a father around to pay for them. It is just that not many of them are any good at football.
Thanks for the info and I agree - a big shame (so far). For the name alone, he should be good. Seems harsh for the crowd to be giving any of our youth players stick - hope others stand up to them.
